“Your hood is showing,” a Twitter critic responded to the Wisconsin Republican’s statement.

https://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_604c0313c5b636ed337a71ce

In an absolutely stunning statement, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) admitted in a radio interview that he wasn’t frightened by white insurrectionists’ attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 — but said he would have been “concerned” had they been Black.

Johnson accurately predicted that his racist statement to conservative radio host Joe Pags on Thursday would get him “into trouble.”

The senator noted that he has been criticized for previous remarks that he “never felt threatened” by the attack.

He added: “Now, had the tables been turned, Joe, and this’ll get me in trouble — had the tables been turned, and President Trump won the election, and those were tens of thousands of Black Lives Matter and antifa protesters, I might have been a little concerned.”

“Let’s face it, people didn’t board up their storefronts in metropolitan areas in case Joe Biden won,” Johnson said.

As for the white insurrectionists, he claimed: “I knew those were people that love this country, that truly respect law enforcement [and] would never do anything to break a law, and so I wasn’t concerned.”

This is why I hate the media, although I already have low expectations for  Huffington Post. The article and headline don't match. He didn't say he would be concerned if they were Black, he said Black Lives Matter.  There is a difference.

From what I saw over the summer, a lot of the BLM protesters, and almost all of the antifa protesters,  who caused problems were white. Everything doesn't have to be about race or racist. He seems to be speaking about the organizations, BLM and antifa, not the race of the participants.

More importantly, why was/is he not concerned about the intentions of the people who actually stormed the Capitol? Street riots go back to the beginning of this country, but  the Capitol building has not been occupied since 1813 and direct attacks on the function of Congress are very rare. Why compare the two?

If that's more important then why didn't the article ask those questions instead of simply screaming racism?

Do you think that if BLM stormed the doors of the Capitol and caused 5 deaths and multiple injuries to the Capitol guard, that the response would be the same? Most of the flagrant violators walked off Scot free and would probably never be apprehended.  There were pipe bombs planted at the door of the RNC and DNC. How Johnson could claim these were law abiding, peace loving?.

Isn't it the same as you claiming that the BLM/Antifa protests are/were mostly peaceful even as several actors were attempting to permanently injure and kill government officers?  I believe the protests this weekend on the West Coast were pretty damaging.

Sounds about right for the Biden FBI.  No need to focus on groups actually doing physical destruction or trying to kill government officers.

You are consistently moving this discussion in a direction that is unrelated to your original post.  The article you posted made it all about race, going so far as to end his quote early to make it sound racist.  You are ignoring the actual article you posted.

The discussion you are having is based on the question:  Should the capitol rioters be considered differently than BLM and antifa?  I think you feel that the capitol rioters are much worse than the BLM/antifa rioters.  I feel they should be treated the same.  And now I'm done.
