The former State Department official accused of brawling with Capitol Police during the Jan. 6 riot had a number of previous run-ins with the law—including a 2013 assault charge.

Less than four years before he joined the State Department as a Trump administration political appointee, Federico “Freddie” Klein allegedly assaulted a woman, stealing two items from her car after wrestling her out of the way during an altercation.

And yet, his past behaviour was a strong indicator of future performance

Another person who shouldn't have security clearance

Navy investigators found contractor in Capitol riot was known as a white supremacist

A U.S. Army reservist who participated in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot was widely known as a white supremacist and regularly discussed his hatred of Jews while working at a New Jersey-based naval facility, according to new evidence revealed by federal prosecutors late Friday.

The reservist, Timothy Hale-Cusanelli, who worked as a security contractor at Naval Weapons Station Earle and held a secret-level security clearance, was arrested and charged Jan. 15 for allegedly breaching the Capitol. At the time, prosecutors described him as an “avowed white supremacist” and Nazi sympathizer, a determination based in part on evidence provided by a confidential source to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and a YouTube channel in which Hale-Cusanelli expressed those views.

I am not in charge of security clearance, but I am guessing that someone who would commit sedition should have theirs stripped.

that didn't answer the question.

What "you have one"? That's a non sequitur, not a question.

it's a question.  do you have a clearance?

I haven't for years.

yet you seem to jump on the bandwagon of outrage even though you don't have one now nor are you well versed in the current process of having one.

some of us have had a security clearance for over 40 years, so you might find it worthwhile to simmer down with the outrage.

"Seem" is the operative word. I don't see any explosive language on my part that would indicate outrage.

It is no secret that arrests and allegations can impact a background check.

The fact is, someone with Top Secret clearance was identified as participating in an action against the US Government that went beyond peaceful protest.

Based on his current behavior, he shouldn't have had a role at state department.
