I see what you’re saying. I just wondered if the US Consulate in Lagos would even care to hear from my congressman. All this is so frustrating

I totally understand your frustration! I don’t know why some representatives are very helpful and others just turn you down without even trying

Congressperson can enquire as to the current status, not a care issue, the Consulates are used to dealing with enquiries and will respond.

I see what you’re saying. I guess it can’t hurt. I’ll fill out the form and see what they say

It would just be easier for consulates to allow us to reunite with our loved ones. Yes there’s a pandemic but also we are leading our lives with precautions so interview with precautions too. Lagos consulate says it’s because of the pandemic they aren’t processing K1 visas but go on to process hundreds of other visas

Exactly! Many embassies have stated interviewing K1s. We had ours back in January 2021 and still waiting for the visa

What was your reason?

Why is it no one is ever willing to share their “reason” yet are always quick in asking what others reasons are? Sounds to me like many people try to make up something to expedite their case. Basically everyone is in the same boat. Yes it sucks horribly. But there is a worldwide pandemic going on that people seem to forget the seriousness of 🤷🏻‍♀️

My reason was for medical reasons. Luckily I was able to get some temporary help. When this runs out, I’ll ask the embassy again. As far as why someone requests expedition, It is their prerogative as to whether or not they answer. If someone doesn’t answer me I assume they don’t want to share and don’t take offense to that. Not sure why that would be so upsetting to you. And lastly I am very aware of the pandemic. I work in a hospital and see everyday what the impact is. I suggest you calm down and stop acting like you know anyone’s why. If I want to come here and ask questions or vent let me be.

This website is for helping each other out so while people come and ask for reasons why they expedited it would make sense to respond, instead of keeping it a secret, so thank you for responding. It’s not upsetting to me; it just doesn’t make sense to me why someone would be willing to ask yet not disclose when they are asked. I thank you for your work in the hospital. I work for a hospital as well so I understand the stress of this last year especially on all health care workers and I also understand the importance of having a loved one with us for support. If you haven’t already it is recommended to send your medical records and a note from your healthcare provider why it would be beneficial for you to have your fiancé here at this time.

You can contact your elected for support at every stage of the USCIS/NVC/Embassy-immigration process. While NO ACTION is guaranteed, they each have a staff member in every elected's office dedicated to this. Everyone has three (3) elected officials on the federal level: 2 Senators for each state and 1 representative in the House. IMPORTANT: You should pick ONE not all THREE. Although petitioners have had success with any of the 3, I chose my representative since the district (population) is smaller versus a statewide seat. I contacted my representative about 30-45 days before my NOA1 was out of regular processing. They reached out to USCIS and was told it was still in regular processing. A week later, I got my NOA2. I am currently waiting on my NVC case number and have my NVC expedite request ready, my representative will send my request as soon as my case number is created. I highly recommend that EVERYONE reaches out to their representative for support. The more people do this the more support we will get regarding immigration issues. Wishing you all the best!

Some people may have expedited cases for personal reasons that they do not feel comfortable sharing on a public forum. I don’t think anyone should be made to feel bad for not sharing. I have seen plenty of users that have shared their reasons :)

My case was expedited last week by my congresswoman and our interview is in 3 weeks. Unfortunately some representatives are just not as helpful, but just because someone else did not get a response from theirs does not mean you won’t. You have nothing to lose by trying and you never know what can happen.

Contacting my Senator multiple times did not help.
I suspect having Senators and Reps that support immigration helps. Unfortunately, my Senator and Rep do not  support immigration and supported the Muslim Ban.

may I ask which state are you living ? because you wrote the senators were not helpful

Just research your senators and find out what they feel and which way they voted on immigration and your country in specific. Im not aware of any Senator that is against Italians so Im not sure why u are asking.  Also, u filed a very short time ago. Others, like myself, have been waiting over 2 years. It wont be near a problem for u as it is for us.
