👋🏼 Hello everyone, I don’t usually log in much here, 😭 but this group was the first one I came up when I started my journey with Vawa back in 2018, I did it alone, no lawyer just a 23 year girl with hopes on the ground in life in hope of a better future, was in abusive marriage and felt worthless in a country where she could absolutely do nothing. I was dependent on my abuser and I hated it because I was living hell, and God knows all the stress and struggle I endured, but thru this hard time, it made me stronger much more than that girl that started Vawa, and relying on this website was my only hope with the future I wanted and desired but couldn’t have, but thanks to God, the waiting is over 🙌🏼 and I couldn’t thank him enough for my struggles and the ups and downs. Yes this is a piece of card but this represents more than that, its my freedom , the freedom I always wanted but couldn’t have.
My timeline is:

I-360- May 1, 2018

I- 765, I-485- June 18, 2018

Ist Ead- April 2019

Vawa approved- December 13, 2019

I-485 fingerprints- August 19, 2020

RFE medicals- May 19, 2021

I-485 New card- June 15, 2021

I-485- Approved- June 16, 2021

Best wishes and luck to everyone else 🙌🏼✊🏼🎈 and we are not alone , this group helped me alot in giving me hope and thanks to everyone! Specially @Stillwinning!!!😊 because she was always optimistic every time I posted something new 😭✊🏼  You have a golden heart ♥️ Thanks 😊

Congratulations dear🥳🥳🥳🍾🗽

Hello Maria! I have a business (opened after I got separated to my husband) and still married.
I inquired with several lawyers in those years and while there is a possibility that he could ask for half of it, they all highly doubt that he will ever wants to go down that road. Especially because the home abuse case (which was the reason why we got separated) and the financial abuse.

Definitely an agreement is necessary during the divorce process - I don’t want anything from my husband and I will request the same before any final court steps. The law say you have to share unless another agreement is in place. Does her husband eventually wants to go into a contested divorce? Does he have the money? Time? Energy?
Not sharing information is also a key. Let your friend know to not share any assets values or investment values with him or his lawyer. Let’s make hard for them understand if there is anything worth money connected with your friend.

My company has grown since than and I can tell you I’m not scared about what would possibly happen in divorce process but I also have the weapons to fight in case he wants to play dirty (capital and a good lawyer) things that my husband doesn’t have.

as always, the best answer come from experienced lawyers. If your friend is serious about getting into business in the healthiest way possibile, tell her to invest some money in lawyers consultation and take this as first investment for their entrepreneurial journey.

Thank you dear for advice. She was going to open new business but she decided doesn’t do it at the moment just in case, before she get divorce. Her husband doesn’t know about her plan but she’s scare.  She doesn’t know if her husband let it knows what he will do for that. She asked two lawyer and they sadi “yes” he can ask divide , she got the money from very hurd work and scare . I think if she start divorce than she can do the business. Thanks again for your advice

You can still enquire if you want..she has no way of knowing. Even my attorney then welcomed the idea of using different resources to achieve same goal!👍

Is it good idea to make one more inquiry? Or I should at least wait and see what answer my attorney got? Thanks!

It all depends on you..you can wait to get answers from your attorney (I’m always an advocate for patience) or you can enquire if you feel the urgency!🤷🏻‍♀️

how many months it took for your vawa to be actually approved ? sorry not understanding the timeline you posted. The reason i am asking its because i have applied for my work permit in August 2020 still did not get receive it. I just got letter for biometrics end of this month I am not sure under what category they will issue the EAD

18 months! If i were u, i will inquiry congressman because honestly what happen with my case was that immigration forgot about it, so I kept insisting and insisting them and my new congressman did their best to contact the people at top in the uscis on my local office, and they did great job in helping me, so i really strongly recommend , giving them a call because they have the power in making uscis people do something with our cases.! 🤗

How much time does it usually take for a Congress person to get back to you about an inquiry?
I wrote to her and she responded by sending me a “privacy release form”, I filled it out and resent it to her over 3 weeks ago and  complete silence👀
