Might be a silly question, but has anyone travelled to Alaska or Hawaii with their working permit/homeland passport/DL etc? Has anyone ever had any issues/additional questions asked?

I know that there should not be any issues, as it is considered a domestic flight (I usually fly with my working permit or my country’s passport and have never had any problems), but still a little bit concerned..

If you're flying on a DL or an EAD that doesn't have AP then you should be fine. Unless a volcano explodes or terrorists attack or an engine blows up and your flight ends up in Canada or something.

If you're flying on an EAD with AP (aka combo card) just bring your passport just in case of a freak accident.

For all who are hoping for approvals, card arrivals, etc., here is our official good-luck VAWA-Threa joke for this week:

---------------

HILLBILLY VASECTOMY

A Kentucky couple, both rednecks, had 9 children.  They went to the doctor to see about getting the husband "fixed."

The doctor gladly started the required procedure and asked them what finally caused them to make the decision -- why, after 9 children, would they do this?

The husband replied that they had read in a recent newspaper article that one out of every ten children born in the United States was Mexican, and he and his wife did not want to risk having a Mexican baby, because neither of them spoke Spanish.

[Moderator hat reluctantly on]

A rather humorous add-on joke had to be removed because of the site's family-friendly policy for posts.

[Mod hat off]

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Reaching my 30th months of waiting for vawa approval.

Sharing this because someone on this forum might be in need to know that she/he is not alone! Stay positive.

Sweetie that is nice of you to share, please ask your congressman to inquire on your behalf, it is outside normal processing times, wishing you good luck and prophesying good news on your vawa for you this year.

Redneck family deep in Kentucky woods called a doc to assist with labor. Husband was holding a lamp while a doctor was doing his job. Oops we got a first baby  - after a while.  Doc was happy  that baby looked healthy on a first glance. Ooops - doc said after like half an hour - we got a second one coming. Keep that lamp on for me please! Parents were excited too! And after another half an hour doc was in disbelief! 3rd baby was on its way. Keep that lamp on for me please! Father shook his head in disbelief too and politely asked a doctor: Doc, do you think that this light is maybe attractin` `em?

We need more approvals!

🤣🤣 woke up laughing to this! Turn that light off! Nice one dear!👍

You will have to talk about this with your attorney.  It is my understanding that you cannot file a waiver if you are in the United States for readmission.  Your attorney will have to build a strong case around your VAWA connection as to why you left and re-entered without inspection.

As per the I-601 instructions in this particular case (permanent bar for re-entry) they'll have to file I-601 and provide evidence that there is a "connection" between the abuse and removal, departure, or re-entry. If there is a cause and effect there, even if it's indirect it can be won, but if there's not (e.g. the departure and re-entry happened before they got married) then the I-485 is toast and the only option left to get permanent residence via VAWA for them would be via Cancellation of Removal at an immigration court.

Might as well crack a joke that hopefully won't get moderated out:

A Jewish man is riding a train and reading an Arab newspaper. One of his coworkers who rode the same train happened to notice this strange phenomenon. He approached the man and asked "Moshe, have you lost your mind? Why are you reading that Arab rag?"

"I used to read the Jewish newspaper and what do I see? Jews being persecuted. Jews living in poverty. Jews disappearing via assimilation and intermarriage. Israel being attacked. So I switched to the Arab newspaper and what do I see now? Jews own all the banks. Jews control the media. Jews are all rich and powerful. Jews rule the world. The news is so much better now".
