Sometimes consulate also think that why couple is not marrying in India and why US only. Obviously people have their own reasons, but in some cases when Indian family do not support marriage with foreigner, then couple choose to marry their in US.

Explained that in our cover letter - K1 visa because it is the fastest a couple can be together and we don't want a long distance marriage. My parents are cool with all this, have photos together with family that I am submitting with 221g.

Great do submit those pics, that's the biggest proof of bonafide relationship.

@Jack & Anne any updates on the 221g?

Hello! Submitted by proof of relationship bundle on 12th April along with my passport at Kolkata VAC. Case was last updated on 13th April - I guess it means that my documents reached Mumbai. The waiting has begun :(

I hope so too! My 221g said that I should submit my passport along with proof of relationship documents. I am hoping this is a good sign. Will update here if anything moves along.

Quick update:

12th March 2021 - K1 Interview. Got 221g for proof of relationship.

12th April 2021 - 221g submitted at Kolkata VAC, got really lucky in hindsight that my 221g asked me to submit proof of relationship and the passport at the same time given the scarcity of 221g appointments in May. Also got lucky that they had my passport already when they opened back up after the second wave related shut down.

7th June 2021 - Case shifted from Immigrant section to Non Immigrant section with "Application Received" status.

10th June 2021 - Case under Non Immigrant section with "Administrative Processing" status.

Congrats!!!! Did you opt for Premium Delivery or pick up??? I'm curious to see how quickly visas arrive in the next couple weeks!!

I opted for pick up. I'm curious about the passport delivery as well. I was told that for pick up, I will get an email notifying me that the passport is ready for pick up. I'm hoping if it was issued on 11th June Friday, it should be mailed out on 14th June Monday and hopefully ready for pick up by 15/16 June at Kolkata VAC. Will keep you updated.
