Approved I-130 Questions

Hi,

We recently had our I-130 approved (17/1/21), and cash number etc. assigned. We are not looking to move to the states until November/December time of this year, due to some family circumstances. How long can I delay submitting the AOS and civil documents? Does anyone have a rough turnaround from submitting application to having interview (assuming application is correctly complete)? And last question, is the six month expiry of visa from date approved or from date of medical?

Thanks,

Keith

Hi,

Generally, the immigration visa will expire 6 months after the medical.

You can delay things at the NVC for a year without contacting them.

I would suggest sending in your documents in June.  It will take 2-3 months for the NVC to process everything before an interview can be scheduled.  Hopefully, you will get an interview in August, September or October.

Best of luck.

Some cases go extremely fast and others extremely slow. I dont think anyone can predict when you will get a visa anymore. There are a lot of factors.

This. You can delay sending in your documents to prevent an interview being “too early”, but beyond that trying to fine tune it is pretty much impossible. Also your embassy matters, some have significantly longer wait times to get to interview after DQ than others.

I understand you can make it take longer, but I just meant idk how easy it is to make it happen in a certain couple of months. Id suggest being prepared that if you delay it, it could take longer than u think

The visa is good for six months past the medical date. London info.

This thread shows the status currently in London regarding those who got assigned March interviews. No new interviews have been assigned in a month and there’s no pattern going right now.
