My wife's first interview was 14 May 2007. At that time she was told she needed more "proof of relationship" and to return on 18 May. Her family prepared a photo album with thirty pictures of our wedding in July of of 2006 and the month of December trip when I was a member of my wife's sisters wedding party and of the two of us at family events through out the month. I also emailed copies of airline tickets, hotel receipts, phone records and anything else to show we have a relationship. At the 18 May interview what we had provided was unacceptable and she was told that her application would be forwarded for "administrative processing"

I emailed the consulate twice asking what information I could provide, or what I needed to do to satisfy the consulate of the legitimacy of our relationship and marriage. I got a reply to the first email which told me nothing. I asked specific questions with the second email and didn't get the courtesy of a reply.

I asked my Senator's office for assistiance but it appears there is little they can do.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Everett,

What country are you dealing with ? Please fill in your timeline so others may be able to better help you with

embassy specific questions.

You are being put on AP for further review. That means they are either doing background checks, name checks,

verifying documents she submitted or doing home investigations.

Mostly this is done right at the post where a review unit or fraud prevention team looks at everything again or

conducts an investigation.

The embassy will not tell you specifics and a senator can't help either. There is no timeframe and they can take

as long as they want to. This is all at their discretion without check and balances from any other department.

We have been on AP for almost 7 month now.

Best wishes !

I assume you are dealing with the Lagos Consulate? What other proof of an ongoing relationship did you provide? Did you provide telephone calls, IM Chats, letters, etc?

My petition was just forwarded to the Lagos Consulate and I am curious about them.

We provided im chats -- the wedding planning ones with a lot of detail. Phone records which showed text messages and the three a day phone calls, records of money I sent for the wedding, copies of airline tickets. I tried to send a letter twice but it never got there. We didn't email much, we relied on messenger -- unfortunately we didn't save our conversations.

I was told that materials submitted with the original application probably didn't make it to Lagos.

Our lawyer told us we provided more than enough. She is unable or unwilling to do anything.

The Senator's office said that Lagos is slow to respond.

I hope you fare better, good luck.

My husband was also given a request for more information and told to come back a week later. They specifically requested phone records...Do you have these? We only had a few, as we were using calling cards. I did, however get statements from family members who had talked to him and attested to the validity of the relationship...I had these notorized also. Apparently this was enough information. However we had already supplied them with countless emails, chat, pictures, cards, video tape, birth announcement, etc. You should dredge up every possible scrap of evidence, at this point.

Your case may be in AR for quite a while. I know this process can last months. Eventually they should contact you again for more information...Is it possible for you to go there again? Take more photos, start coppying your chats, etc. Also, it says you filed the K3, did you file for the Cr1 as well?

Best Wishes.

Jodi

In addition to all of the above, consider doing a word search of your wife's name in your email box (sent and received messages). This will now provide additional proof showing that even amongst family and friends you are discussing her with others regarding your relationship. EVERY piece of evidence helps.

Wish you well.

Thanks for the good ideas!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. You have given me and Bosdede new hope. I wish I had found this site earlier and I wish I had a lawyer that knew more than how to fill out the forms. The advice here has been extremely valuable.

Thank you!
