N400 Filing as unemployed?

Hi Everyone,

 

Thank you in advance for your time. Quick question regarding filing N400 application.

 

is it safe to file N400 application while you are unemployed ?

Employment is not a prerequisite for applying. Plenty of people got naturalized without having a job.

It's safe. I have applied for unemployment and I still submitted my N400 because there is no issue with you applying for unemployment or collecting unemployment while applying your citizenship. You pay into the system that is allowed to be used by citizens as well as green card holders.

Hi, Thank you for your reply. I am not on unemployment benefits.

I just do to have a job right now and I am ready to submit my N400 application. Is it going to effect my N400 application  if I submit as an unemployed?

Having a job is not a prerequisite for naturalizing.

Fyi unemployment benefits are an insured benefit and not public charge, and anyway public charge is not relevant for naturalizing.
