9a visa maximum stay and validity period

I have been issued a 9a visa with a 3 month validity period, single entry.

The 9a visa has a maximum authorized stay of 59 days.

Let's say my visa's validity period is 3/1 to 5/31, and I enter the Philippines on 5/1, does this mean I can stay until 6/29 (5/1 + 59 days)? Or is my maximum stay capped to the end of the validity period (5/31)?

Thanks in advance

I think you should e-mail the embassy that issued it to find out for sure, but I would guess that it works as you described.  Activate it by arriving within the 3 months, then you have 59 days from arrival.  You can do an extension after arrival if you want to stay longer than 59 days.

Visa validity and granted stay are two different things.   Visa validity grants you permission to seek entry on or before that date.  Upon entry, you will be granted your authorized stay of up to 59 days.  You can arrive on 5/31 and be granted 59 days.
