Waiting since 2019 to remove conditions, is husband eligible for Citizenship in the meantime?

Hello,

I have filled to remove conditions on my husband's two year Green Card in 2019. We have been waiting for an interview since March 25, 2020. We did receive an extension notice that is valid up to 18 months. If the interview is not set up yet do we have to reapply for an extension again? I have tried to get a hold of Uscis  but I am not able to talk to a live agent so far.  One more question I have is while is he waiting to remove the conditions, is he eligible to apply for CItizenship Before or After the Interview while the Case is pending? My husband has been a resident in The United States since Nov 28, 2017. 

Any advice would help. Thank you.

There is no additional extension letter.  The LPR's status does not expire when the extension letter does.  If the LPR requires evidence of status for travel, work, etc, you can make an appointment with USCIS to get an I-551 stamp in the passport.

 

BTW:  We filed my wife's I-751 in March 2019.....We have been waiting for an interview since May 2019.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

He can apply for citizenship when he is eligible.....regardless of whether he has had the ROC interview.

This means he is already eligible to apply for citizenship under the 3-year rule. He may end up having a combo interview for the I-751 and N-400.
