My wife started her interview yesterday at SLEC in Manila she was told she had to do the sputum test which starts today for the 3 samples and find out results in 2 months.

which kills our interview at end of this month with the back log of immigration what is the chances of getting another interview set up before medical runs out after we get results back in May? We have to set up new interview from what she was told.

This sputum test is what killed our K1 back in 2017 so we went with married route after 2 yrs stuck between rock and a hardspot.

With this beer virus BS stuff it is hard to say.  Under normal circumstances it isn't an issue to get another interview slot, and it is possible because of the limited activity at the embassy it may not be an issue now either.   It is all speculation, just have to wait it out.

My wife is in the same boat. She did her 3 sputum samples and got a negative smear test. 4/14 is when we get the culture result. Then we will find out about the interview.

Our results should be around may 12th or so then try and reschedule the interview.

My wife just did her 3rd sample today, how do you know if it is negative?  The results in 2 months is the final.  We had to do this when we filed for k1 back in 2017, so we let it run out and got married and refiled under the CR1 category been 2 years now and get hit with this.

She will be asked to come back tomorrow or in a few days for the pulmonary evaluation. So, the sputum test involves 2 procedures:

1. Smear test - specimen is smeared on a glass plate, stained, and looked under a microscope to see if there are TB bacteria (or any other bacteria) present. Results are available within a few hours to 24 hours after the test. The results of all her 3 samples will be discussed during the pulmonary evaluation. If any of the samples turn positive, then treatment will start. If they are all negative, the samples will undergo a culture test.

2. Culture test - samples are placed in a growing medium for up to 8 weeks to see if TB bacteria will grow. If any of the samples turn positive before the 8 weeks is up, treatment will start. If no growth on all of the samples after 8 weeks, then a medical clearance is issued.

What was the result of her sputum test in 2017?

As for rescheduling the interview, this is the instruction from the embassy (please include the medical clearance when you send an email):

They should have given her a paper to come back for the smear test results. Then they will give her a paper to come back for the culture results. @angeljolie answered with all of the next steps and details of the procedures

I could not tell you the results from 2017 we let everything go, she must have been positive at that point cause she had antibiotics to take for 6 to 7 months so we let K1 expire at that time plus she was getting cold feet of leaving also at that time.
So we just did the cr1 route instead and now this again.  I am thinking of having every family member tested for this stuff cause with the strict lock downs and mask and shield and not being able leave the house she should not have come down with anything since planddemic started, getting frustrated.

The process can be really frustrating. Hope her results come out negative. Stay encouraged.

I'm a little bit confused. You said you believe she tested positive in 2017, so you took the CR1 route instead. Does that mean she didn't complete the treatment last time?

I see. I sincerely hope her results come back clean, but since she didn't do the treatment back in 2017, the only way I imagine her results would be any different is if SLEC previously misdiagnosed her. Do you know if it was her chest x-ray results that prompted the sputum test, or are they making her go through it again because they have a record of her previous diagnosis and want to re-verify?

The chest xray is what prompted the sputum again this time, the smear test come back negative this time now we have to wait until may for final grow results, she has to be back in manila May 11th to see what come of it. Crossing fingers now everything will be good so we can re-Schedule the interview.

Did she receive treatment in the past, if she tested positive?
