Expired K1

My K1 application expired the end of August. I can to the US to visit my fiance the end of June...thinking that I would go back to Canada to do the last portion of the K1 by the end of Aug. The K1 was approved by US in May and then the application sat at the visa center...until it expired the end of August. 

So I ended up just staying in the US and we got married the end of September.

The beginning of Nov we applied for the spouse visa/green card.

 

Fast forward 5 months past K1 expiring. We get an email saying that they just sent the K1 to Montreal. Then we get a letter from Montreal with the next instructions.

Were we supposed to cancel the expired K1??? We thought it was void after it expired!!!!???

The K-1 is now voided since you are married.  I would send an email to the consulate to inform them that you are now married.  This will not affect your adjustment of status.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..
