Do you think these things are becoming more frequent now during the pandemic that people are getting married via proxy so they can visit their spouse with the view of filing for the CR1 later...

Or like the OP, they mistakenly believe that it will enable them to file a petition.

Thread is moved from the K-3 Process forum to the CR-1 Process forum.

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I looked at the travel bans and it’s says all American will be subject to quarantine and have to pay for it but yea we just have to wait this out

Wouldn't it be worth it to do the quarantine and be able to finally meet your spouse though?

where are you trying to travel to and you don't have to quarantine no where but home or where you and your spouse will stay. yes some countries you have to have to have covid test before going and all passengers coming into the united states have to have a test done and most countries you will have to pay. go on your embassy website and read about the covid procedures and fyi if you are required to take a test before leaving make sure it's within there time frame or you will have to do and pay for one at the airport

I’m traveling to Gambia . No , you have to quarantine at a military facility and retest . I can’t see my spouse.  they keep canceling  my trip due to corona . If they allow me to quarantine with my husband that fine but they are not .

No , I knew I couldn’t file the petition without seeing my husband . I was wondering if the tripped being canceled due to corona would let me by pass it . I have read all the information to whoever said they think they can file . No , me spending a year trying to get there is why I asked . It’s not my fault this is happening

Proxy , was the best way for us . Who wants to pay 300 USd when we paid 150 for the marriage and 50 for the shipping of paperwork. Also , it’s more convenient a wedding versus having to pay and set a day at the justice . It’s more about time and money to me . I’m going see him regardless we are having a wedding . I will see him sooner or later . I have put off on my Master degree because of this . I can’t leave school anytime nor do they have reliable internet . Not all people do this to think they can apply . We wanted be married is why

If you can present negative test results from a test taken within the past 72 hours before arrival, you will not need to quarantine:

You have to quarantine it doesn’t matter . You will be tested when you arrive there as well . It’s all online as well as video on YouTube . You are bused to a hotel and have to pay 50 dollars a day . If you are negative you can leave it postive you stay for 14 days and have to pay . They just put restrictions as well . My flight was canceled

Your not good to go . You will be took and retested . I know people who went there and had and test and were retested but they just shut it down again yesterday . If and when I go the only way if I can quarantine with my husband . I work at a corona testing site and test weekly . This is all nonsense .

Waste of time and they just want money is why they are retesting you and sending to a hotel . My friend girl went and had a test and did 2 days quarantine until the test results came . I’m not willing to do that . I just tested so I will just wait until they take my test . I will try to go back in the summer . I have already took time off from my job. Not sure , how many times they will allow it.

Having to quarantine for a few days while waiting for the test results would definitely be worth it to me. It would allow you to finally be with your spouse who you have never met in person. A lot of people here are simply not allowed to visit their partners.

So you do have options. You choose not to travel because you do not want to quarantine for a few days. That is your choice. And as a result of that, you will not be able to file the petition yet.

It’s not worth it for me . Only there for 8 days minis 2 days . It’s not worth it . I just showed you the test but I was going to it was canceled for March 19 . Doesn’t sound good to me to be away from him in a country I know nothing about in a place I have no idea if it infected in the rooms  . No , thanks I will get to him when God is ready for me to get there. I have to pay for this to no thanks . It’s already high enough going and missing work for the days and I may have to quarantine for 7 to 10 days . I just wait they will open when they start losing money .
