ACTUAL attendees allowed at i485 interview

Hi there,

Hoping to get some clarification from more experienced folks on this issue. Specifically, for the attendance of interpreters and petitioners to the i485 interview.

In the past, petitioners were not explicitly required to attend (in cases other than marriage based adjustments), yet everyone I've ever heard of bringing their petitioner was let in and questioned during the process as well. The new COVID attendee restrictions do not explicitly bar a petitioner, but rather claim the only allowed attendees are on their exceptions list (lawyer / children and stuff). In spite of this, accounts I've read of bringing the petitioner anyway during these restrictions, suggests that most of the time they're let in anyway. (Even though supposedly, they should be stopped at the door of the building, not even making it to the waiting room)

Interpreters have similar contradicting allowances. While the allowance of phone interviewers is explicitly stated, many accounts here on VisaJourney tell of bringing interpreters to the interview and them being allowed in. Even in an instance where they were required to sit in a separate phone and interpret by phone, apparently they first had to present themselves and fill out the G-1256 Declaration for Interpreted USCIS Interview form. How would a purely on the phone interpreter, who reads these restrictions of not being allowed in and having to be available by phone, fill out such a 'required' form? Even bringing it to the interview prefilled is seemingly incorrect, as the instructions of the G-1256 state  You and the interpreter must sign the form in the presence of the interviewing officer.

So whats the actual deal? Petitioner can get past security door, and into interview room? Bring interpreter in person? Interpreter stay at home but bring prefilled form? Not any consistent reliable information available, hoping to hear from recent interviewees (maybe this is all just office specific, which is even more annoying)

What is your base for adjusting? You're here in the AOS from K1 subforum but it sounds like this is not the case for you. Maybe you can find more help in the other subforum for AOS from Tourist, work visa etc.

For marriage based it's simple, the spouse has to be there. don't know how it is with work visas. And for the interpreter it really seems to be up to the office. The interview notice is pretty clear that interpreter if needed have to be available over the phone and not in the office but yea, I heard others bringing them in too.
