Sooooo

I’m finally a US citizen.

My interview was schedule at 9:00am. I arrived 20 minutes earlier and went in the building. Security was very nice and who ever was checking in was very nice as well.

I waited around 1 hour to be called and then the IO asked me to swear to tell the true. She started asking me for my passport, DL and GC. She checked my passport every paged though.

She asked me 6 questions and then she moved to the reading and writing test. Unfortunately the IPad wasn’t working so I had to do everything on a paper she gave me. After passing my civic, reading and writing she started with my N400 application.

She asked me for my current employer which I was actually going to update today since I’m not working in the same place. The she asked me why I took too many trips out of the US and I responded with the true about my wife and my dad in El Salvador. She asked me if I was leaving in El Salvador, if I was working or if I have any properties there to which I responded with the true (No).

I also got married after I submitted my n400. She asked me about my wife and info about her as well. She asked me I was planning to petition for her and my dad; to which I responded that in the future that is the plan. She asked me for my taxes and she checked the one from the last 2 years and she said it was okay. She made me sign the updates and gave me the letter saying my application was recommended for approval and she told me to wait outside.

I waited for around 30 more minutes; I filled out a paper for the Oat (which is the same day in Orlando field office).

Oath didn’t take more than 10 minutes.

Thank God I got approved today and also got the path the same day!

Awesome! Same day oath! Congratulations! You’re now a full-fledged citizen and don’t have to worry about immigration rules and everything like that ever again! It’s over and done with. 😃 Enjoy!

Got a call from DHS saying that they changed my interview appointment to March 15th. I was so looking forward to going to my interview this Friday, though. Oh well! I'm sure it'll be here before I know it!

Hello.did they sent you any notice to change the interview date as a proof.?

Yeah, I checked my account to be sure and they sent a letter that "De-scheduled" my interview on Friday, and immediately posted a new letter to "Schedule" a new appointment for the date the DHS rep said over the phone.

I became a citizen this morning. Simple affair at the Milwaukee field office. Still hard to believe the journey is over.

I asked for a couple of certified copies right after the ceremony and they very nicely took care of it. Something to consider if you need proof of citizenship while your original certificate is at the passport center.

Good luck to everyone still waiting, I hope you get good news soon!

I have passed my naturalization interview this morning and I will have my oath ceremony tomorrow morning. The officer was very nice. I think she only asked me 5 civic questions, then went to the reading and writing. No vocabulary was asked.

CONGRATS!!!

Those who applied in April 2021 are now getting interview letters, so you are at most 2 more months away.

Most interview notices are arriving at 10-11 months post submission date for SFO office.
