I seem to be in the minority here :-) - it doesn't bother me sharing water with my cats. I keep a glass of water on the bedside table at night and all of the cats (we have 5) would come and drink from it so much that half the glass would be gone, so now I have two glasses of water on the bedside table - and we all share:-).

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Ok I'm bored waiting for hubby to come online.

I'm wicked hot today for some reason and thirsty so I just took the time to get a nice big glass of ice water.......perfect temp......sweat beads on the glass and all that good stuff. I just looked over and my cat was drinking out of the glass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can see her lickin' her chops right now cause it was so good. :crying:

So...............would you still drink it or would you toss it?

Toss it.

edit-I caught my cat leering at my cup of cocoa the other day. I chucked that out because I figured he obviously knows it tastes good...and how exactly does he know? The little sod probably has snuck a swig in the past when I was not looking! EWWWWWWWWWWWWW I keep it all out of his reach now....

I did toss it but you bring up a good point that I was pondering all last night............I *caught* her drinking my water that time....how many times has she snuck it??? I mean for all I know she could have had some of the next glass that I made, ya know? She did it so nonchalantly like she's an old pro.

And as for the cup of water by the bed at night..........................no doubt in my mind NOW that she's taken some of that too.

One of my cats is obsessed with drinking out of glasses, she'll only drink from a bowl if she can't find a glass. So yeah, she drinks from our glasses all the time. I mean, if I'm going to let her lie on my pillow and clean herself, why not?

The other cat started picking the trick up from the older one, but she's a big fat klutz and kept knocking the glasses over (particularly the one on the bedside table), so we had to stop her.

Honestly, I and everyone I've ever lived with and anyone who's ever been to our house regularly lets the older cat drink from our glasses. I've never had anyone think it was gross. Maybe it's also because this is a particularly attractive, graceful, and well-behaved cat--this is her only "bad" habit (I put "bad" in quotation marks because she's certainly been encouraged in it, everyone thinks it's adorable). I've had a lot of people who hate cats meet her and love her.

For some reason our kitties always go for the water in my glass rather than my hubby's. There's usually quite a bit of fur on/in my glass after one of the kitties has tried stuffing its head all the way into the glass in order to reach the water... And no, I would not drink from the glass after one of the kitties got to it.

Would you drink out of a glass your cat drank from?

Not only "NO", but "Hell NO!" I don't see any reason or good sense to do so.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

I think the odds of my cat's getting enough saliva in the water that it won't dilute down to almost nothing and then that I would *also* have broken skin inside my mouth at the same time are slim enough that I don't mind risking it.

Not to mention that even if one gets it, it's usually not serious and usually goes away on its own with no medical treatment whatsoever.

That's nasty that you would even go so far to break that down into reasoning..............

I'm not very fond of cats, but I would drink out of the same glass as my dog, or rather... I would let my dog take a sip of what I was having out of my cup. I wouldn't go put my face all up in her bowl or anything.

That picture is not funny.

We don't usually have glass of water, we refill a water bottle, but still, I doubt our cats would try to drink water from a glass.
