Updating passport during NVC step

I have submitted the applicant's passport page and it was accepted.  However, I was requested to provide a new PCC.  After the applicant's passport page was uploaded and accepted, the applicant's passport was renewed since it was expiring soon.  Now the new PCC will refer to the new passport number and not match the passport page that was accepted and uploaded.

 

Now the question is - when I upload the new PCC, should I also upload a new passport page?  The previous passport page was already accepted, so I fear uploading a new one will cause unneeded confusion.

I had a similar experience, applicant's passport was expiring soon and we uploaded the old one before getting a new one. CEAC sent us a message that the old one as expiring soon just as we received the new one, so we uploaded the new passport page. I believe in the comments of the upload we specified that this was the new passport. It was accepted without further issue.

I don't know if your case will be different as your applicant's passport was not flagged, but that was my experience. In any case, I would make sure your applicant goes to the interview with both the old and new passports, just in case (this is what we are planning on doing).

 

If you do choose to upload the new one, I would make sure you specify in the comments that it is a new one, to ease that potential confusion. That being said, if you are already Documentarily Qualified then I don't think you can add to your case and I would just skip to bringing both passports to the interview.
