We emailed the Montreal Consulate to see if F3 visas are being scheduled for interviews yet and in particular the ones that had interviews and were canceled back in 2020 cause of the pandemic (like ours was) and need to be rescheduled.

Here is what they said...

Good afternoon,

Please note that your case is in queue to reschedule your appointment. We are processing immigrant visas and will prioritize Immediate Relative family members of U.S. citizens including intercountry adoptions, fiancé(e)s of U.S. citizens, and certain Special Immigrant Visa applications, as well as other mission critical categories such as medical professionals. While we aim to schedule and process cases as soon as practicable, there are likely to be increased wait times for completing services due to the ongoing pandemic and substantial backlogs.

We will continue expanding our services, including processing F3 visa applications, following State Department guidance to safely return our workforce and the public to Department facilities. For more information on phased resumption of services please visit: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/phased-resumption-routine-visa-services.html

Thank you for your patience and cooperation,

Regards,

Well at least they acknowledged the cancelled interviews even though that doesn't seem to be among their priorities. Now all we have left is wait. Good luck to us 😊

Apparently in India they are providing a little more accurate information. So at least you stop keeping people in the dark.

Thanks for this @Artists

This was the response I got asking them if they were scheduling F3 visas yet and what about F3s that had their interview canceled in 2020.

I didn't understand if this meant yes they were but we were a lower priority or no they weren't yet till they expanded services. I have emailed again asking for clarification so just waiting to hear back.

This is what they said to my 1st email. How do you interpret it?

Regards,

It's the first time I see they mention they are going to start process all categories instead of only immediate relatives such as spouses, fiancees and minor children which we already know it's a priority.

Also most importantly they make clear they'll start off with the cancelled interviews from last year. And then, when that's done, they'll schedule interviews for other non priority immigrant visas.

That's what I understood from the message. But I might be overoptimistic haha :-)

Oh haha I meant the email I got back. I wondered what you thought it meant. I found it confusing. Not sure from what they said if they are scheduling F3 visas or canceled appointments.

The India email was very clear. Wish Montreal would say something as clear as that. I always find theirs so vague and confusing.

Unfortunately just cause India is doing that doesn't mean Montreal is. They are all doing their own thing based on covid conditions etc. Where they are.

Oh sorry. I really thought you were referring to the screenshot. Anyway it's hard to have an idea of what Montreal means by their responses.

Yes Montreal doesn't do so well in processing times compared to other consulates. I know they all have different conditions to process visas but I was just hopeful that this information could give us a hint considering they are all under the same administration. Anyway, we'll keep waiting.

Yes hopefully they are doing that as well but just not good at explaining it as India is ha. I will let you know if I get another response.

Hi

I have a quick question, if we are in a queue for the visa interview at Montreal embassy then Indian embassy gives response to our query.

My case is transferred from the Indian embassy to the Montreal embassy. If I contact to Indian embassy then should they respond to my query.

I'm not sure why India embassy would respond if it's now with Montreal. It's Montreal that would handle your case now I would think so you should be asking Montreal your questions. But I guess you could always try India and see what they say.
