Montreal Consulate update - what is considered immediate relative family members?

I see Montreal Consulate updated their processing status March 2nd on their website stating they are now processing immediate relative family members including fiance visas.

We are F31 (married adult children of a US citizen)

We along with fiance visas were banned under proclamation 10014 until it was recently lifted. Before this they were only processing young children of US citizens. But now they've changed how they worded it for family.

What counts as immediate relative family members? Its my husband who is the son of a US citizen. Do you think we would be included in that general statement of "immediate relatives"? I wish they would list the visa types they are processing. It's always clear as mud.

We had an interview appointment booked last year in March but it was canceled 5 days before due to the pandemic and then proclamation 10014. I am hoping this means we are now back on the list to be rescheduled for our interview. We've waited 15 yrs now and got so close before it all stopped. Hoping we can begin moving forward again soon.🙏

Normal usage is those who have a visa immediately available to them and do not need a PD.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Oh ok so we have a priority date so we aren't immediate family.

They say they are processing immigration visas and are prioritizing immediate family, fiance etc.

So maybe they are still processing our visa type but we aren't prioritized? They didn't say they are only processing immediate family and fiance. I never know how to take their updates lol.

Hopefully you will have communication within this month for the possible interview in next month I.e. April 2021.

Thank you! I hope so. I emailed them yesterday to see if they are processing F3 visas and for an update about how they are handling interviews that were canceled last year. We'll see if they reply.

Hi!  I believe I'm in a very similar situation. I'm also a F3 applicant DQ'd July 2019 with an interview that was scheduled for March 23, 2020 which was cancelled just 4 days prior to that. So I'm also trying to keep my hopes up that they'll start working soon on those cancelled interviews. So I'm looking forward to hearing if you get a positive response from the consulate. We should try keeping this topic up for other F3 applicants to keep track of similar timelines. Best luck for us!

It's great to meet someone with so much of the same timeline and experience and an F3 in Canada. There really aren't many of us! We were DQ in July 2019 also and our interview was March 23rd also! Our PD was Nov 30 2006. I will try to keep this updated but also feel free to message me if you hear anything. I emailed the Montreal Consulate a couple days ago asking if they are processing F3 visas yet and if so how are they prioritizing interviews that were canceled in 2020. Hopefully they reply with something helpful and positive.

Did you have your medicals all done before too? We did and now we'll have to get them done again whenever we get another appointment as they've expired. We were devastated as I'm sure you were when everything was canceled for this whole year after getting so close.

Good luck! Please keep me updated 🙏🙂

Yes it's very frustrating. After so many years waiting getting so close and then more waiting. Our PD is actually October 12 2006. Yes we had all medicals done, everything ready even a hotel room we had to cancel. There are really not many F3s in Canada I suppose too. Maybe they are just squeezing us in between K1s interviews so that's why is taking so long haha. Now I'm just curious what time were you booked for your interview if you don't mind me asking lol. We were scheduled for 10am. I heard they only do it morning. Anyway, I know they take a few days to respond the emails. Let's see if we can get a response about it.

Wow how similar can we be?? We had a hotel booked too. Our appointment was 9am! There is 4 of us. My husband me and our two daughters.

Medicals cost us like $1200 for nothing and having to do that again really sucks. We just went and got our RCMP criminal checks done again cause they expired too. At least they last a year and aren't too expensive.

Ok so you guys were ahead of us for the interview then you should be hearing from them before me. We were in 3, me, my wife and a daughter but we had a baby boy last june just to make it all more exciting haha. I already sent them the birth certificate like they requested but I'm not sure if he will be included as a beneficiary or a new application will be needed.

It's really disappointing doing medicals and police checks all over again but if there's no other way so be it.

Who knows how they'll go about it. I'm surprised yours was after ours since your PD is a month before ours.

Yeah I'm not sure how that works adding a new person at this stage. But after 15 years of waiting you have to expect people's families are going to grow. We didn't have kids when we first applied either.

It is disappointing to do that all again but we're so close! Hopefully this is both our year 🤞

Maybe it has to do with when we became documentary qualified. But yeah who knows.

Yes hopefully it all work out soon! ✈️

Oh maybe. Or maybe it's just who booked it. Was only an hour difference. I'm so glad to have found someone so similar to us! It was like finding a needle in a haystack just to find any F3s it felt like.

We should definitely keep each other updated 🙂.
