Hello all.

My husband had his interview a week ago. Went well and was approved. The status has been rejected, we applied directly with the embassy in Paris.

We're now filling out the DS-5535 😅

1. I noticed the form expired 3 days ago (is this going to be a problem?)

2. It looks like no one has been asked to fill these for a while

3. My husband had never been to the middle east or any countries that seem to cause concern for this form

Anyone have experience in a similar situation?

You are correct that we don't hear about this form often here.  However, it is an internal comment period that expired.  As long as you are using the most currently available form, it's the right one.  Read on the website which edition date is accepted, and ignore the expiration date.

Could be a hit on a common name.  They need the family information to rule him out for something.

Yes, thanks. This is what I imagine. We filed in France, he only holds a French passport, and has never been to any country in the areas where this form seems to usually apply to.

Hoping this will not turn out to be a 9 month delay like I see for some people.

Thank you!

Thank you!

Is the beneficiary not born in France or a minority/muslim? I is common in some western countries for beneficiaries to be given extra scrutiny if there are naturalized/from different ethnic/religious background than what is common for that country. Hopefully it wouldn't take too long for you to get your visa!
