Hello friends, hope that you are in the best of health upon reading this thread.

I have a couple of questions that would love to have answered. I have been in the queue for a F2B visa (adult child of a PR) since 2014, and things have been going according to plan (although extremely slow) up until now.

Due to the presidential proclamation imposed by the late president, some visas were postponed until after the 31st of March 2021. Not too long ago on Feb 24, President Biden has revoked the proclamation and I've read that visa processings will return back to normal.

I was documentarily qualified on NVC as of Feb 4th and I am currently 1 month in the wait for the email that will state the next process which I will have to undertake to secure an interview for my visa, but as you've noticed, I am currently a blind man walking down that path.

Neither the consulate nor NVC will clarify any waiting times as when to expect the email to arrive nor will anyone publish any dates of which cases they are working on. If you have any news or input regarding the matter, or require any further information to help you help me, please shine as much light on the matter as possible, and I hope that many others would benefit from this post as well.

Regards

Its not simply a matter of them not wanting to provide information on wait times.  If you can tell them when the Morracan government will lift the "Health State of Emergency" (which was extended to April 10, 2021), internal travel restrictions, etc., there might be better information available.  Until then, the situation remains too much in flux for anyone to be able to make accurate predictions about timelines.

I think it's impossible for anyone to tell right now how long the wait time at any specific embassy is going to be given both the massive backlog in the vast majority of immigrant visa cases plus the ever-evolving covid situations. However, if by becoming DQ on 4 Feb you mean 4 Feb this year, you can probably count on at least a year's wait as there is  around a year's worth of DQ'd people in front of you in the line for interview. If you meant 4 Feb last year, then you may be fairly early in the queue...though i don't think anyone can really tell you at this stage if that means weeks or months.

Not "back to normal", at least not yet.  from DoS page on recission of ban: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/rescission-of-presidential-proclamation-10014.html

Not Yet Interviewed:  Immigrant visa applicants who have not yet been interviewed or scheduled for an interview will have their applications processed according to our existing phased resumption of visa services framework.

If you look at the link for that "existing phased resumption of visa services framework", ihttps://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/phased-resumption-routine-visa-services.html it says:

  • The resumption of routine visa services, prioritized after services to U.S. citizens, will occur on a post-by-post basis, consistent with the Department’s guidance for safely returning our workforce to Department facilities.  U.S. Embassies and Consulates have continued to provide emergency and mission-critical visa services since March 2020 and will continue to do so as they are able.  As post-specific conditions improve, our missions will begin providing additional services, culminating eventually in a complete resumption of routine visa services.
  • We are unable to provide a specific date for when each mission will resume specific visa services, or when each mission will return to processing at pre-pandemic workload levels.  See each U.S. Embassy or Consulate’s website for information regarding operating status and which services it is currently offering.

So you need to watch the Moroccan embassy website as your best source of information for what they are doing and when they will get started again on family F-category visas.

Hello, thank you very much for your response. I have already consulted the local embassy's site, but they have not updated the information on it as of yet. I also contact their call centers and they too cannot provide any up to date information on the matter.

All you can do is keep an eye on the consulate's website, and watch your email.  Like Susie said, there is a huge backlog, so the wait may be about a year for an interview.

Hello,

Since Casablanca post isnt ver ybusy compared to other consulates, I don't think it'll take a year to process your case like Jorgedig and SusieQQQ said. That's a roughly estimate based on the worldwide backlog but the backlog is actually different from one consular post to another. Now your case has been DQ'ed in Feb 2021 so that might take a few months to have you scheduled but not a year. However if it is Feb 2020 then you might get news very soon.

Any other insight is welcome

You are basically saying you think morocco can process a year’s worth of its own backlog in a few months despite operating below capacity due to Covid. Remember embassies are staffed in relation to their usual workload. If they are usually not busy they won’t have a lot of staff. They might have in normal circumstances some extra capacity to try deal with a backlog faster but now they have reduced capacity vs normal. Do you know what categories of visa are currently having interviews in morocco? Is it interviewing all categories ?

Thank you for your reply. I understand the basis to your analysis on the matter, as I too have called the consulate not too long ago and they told me that they barely had any cases on hand and should flawlessly handle the backlog that they have on hand. The only thing that grinds my gears is that there is no information being shared on their website stating what is the current process that they're handling nor are they willing to share that information over the phone. All of their answers are standardized and aimed not providing information nor disregarding it.

Why should they share that info with some random person who calls?  DOS day to day workflows are not subject to public disclosure.  I'm sure that like for most consulates, they are using their resources to prioritize services to US citizens.

If you're confident that they told you there is no backlog, why are you inquiring on an internet forum about it?

Hi,

Anybody got news from the consulate about interviews? Their website have been updated to mention they are processing immigrant visas in April, which means they're sending out interview notices in March.

Would be nice to keep track of what type of visas they're doing.

Thanks folks
