Hi everyone. I'm a newbie here. I just want to ask regarding the application of US tourist visa. I have read from the previous topics that while on the process of applying for a K1 Visa, the fiance can still visit the US provided that he/she presents the documents needed (if asked) to the immigration officer. I haven't been to the US but I am planning on visiting my fiance so I am applying for a US Tourist Visa. As I was filling out the DS160 form, there is a section there about the Family Declaration and there's one for Fiance and for Partner. Which section should I fill out?  Thanks in advance for your answers.

You can apply.  Answer the questions honestly.  If you lack strong ties to home, your application will likely not be approved.

I am currently working as a nurse here in Ireland and I also have a residence permit so I hope that suffice as strong ties?

So you're working in a country where you are not a citizen?   That weakens your case.  Like I said, all you can do is apply and hope for the best.

You have a USC fiancé, so that's the section you fill out on the DS-160.  One is always free to apply for a tourist visa, but make sure you are completely honest in filling out the DS-160 and be truthful when you have the visa interview, and tell them you have a K-1 in process.  With a USC fiancé, you will be seen as a risk to stay in the US and adjust status, which is fraud, so be prepared to show strong ties to your country of residence, with job, ownership of property, etc. to convince the officer that you will return to your home after a short visit to the US.  All you can do is apply and see what happens.  Some in your situation have been successful, others denied.  If you are denied, he can go and visit you while the K-1 process plays out.  Good luck!

Thank you!  I think it is safer now that we. just stick to the process of. K1 instead of me applying for tourist visa since I. will have to fill out a D160 form for that again anyway.I definitely don't want to. have a record of being denied. Much better for him to visit me for the meantime. Thank you so much!
