Hi, everybody, I have some questions to ask. Here is my experience.

I was supposed to get green card interview on March 2nd 2021, which is today, but around 4 yesterday afternoon, I received a call from Seattle field officer who told me they had to cancel my interview because they didn't have some paperwork ready for my interview. I was really confused and asked if they would reschedule it, they said they would send letter to my P. O, BOX later but they didn't tell me when.

Anyway, here is the thing I'm really confused about. My I-485 was Submitted on March 12, 2019. and I've been waiting for green card interview for a long time.  Some time in August 2019, my case status is like "August 7, 2019 We are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, for an interview", then of course because of pandemic  they had to close field office( I found it out after making numbers of phone calls)for something like 6 months which has caused thousands  cases  delayed.

my question is if I-485 gets expired, of course my medical examination and vaccine record( I-693) will need to be redone which I'm not worried. My only concern is I-485, does I-1485 expire?  I even called USCIS this morning to find out if I-1485 expires. The officer told me it wouldn't for my case.

So I'm hoping someone in here can help me with my question.

Thank you so much for it.

Thank you for the answer, my case just got just updated, on USCIS website  it shows" March 2nd, 2021, interview was rescheduled." So I'll look for the letter in my PO Box in a couple days., and tomorrow I'm getting another medical exam and vaccine done.

Was your vaccination sheet at your medical in your homecountry signed complete? And did you applied for AOS less than a year after your medical? If that's the case you don't need to do a new medical. You're fine

It's been almost 2 years since they started to process my AOS, yes, I will need to get a new medical report ready before interview.  Thanks for the answer.

You didn't answered my question. It doesn't matter how long USCIS takes after you applied when you AOS from a K1. If your vaccination sheet was marked complete and you applied within a year of the medical then you're fine and don't need a new medical.

I got vaccine on Feb 25th in California , doctor signed on March 5th, like I said, it's been too long before my interview. USCIS even sent another   letter to remind me to update I-1693 before the interview, but I didn't find it out until March 1st, in my case glad they cancelled my interview , otherwise even though I went for interview , I would still be asked to mail in a new I-1693 medical exam and vaccine report.

Hi! If you filed for AOS within the one year validity of your medical exam, you don’t have to get a new one. But sometimes some officers ask for it. If you don’t have it at the time of your interview, they will just tell you to send it. It will not affect your interview result. I had my GC interview yesterday. My medical exam was on May 2019 and I filed my AOS on January 2020. The officer didn’t ask for my medical or asked me to get a new one. I think waiting for the officer to ask you during the interview before you get a new medical is a sound thing to do. But if you wanna go ahead you can do that too. Just sharing my experience. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the help, your case is completely different fro mine, I got I-693 done on Feb 25th, 2019, including vaccine as well. Then I filed AOS and I-693 form together after that,  it was submitted on March 12 on USCIS record. It's been almost 2 years  since that. Yes, I need to get new medical exam and vaccine done, even USCIS officer confirmed about that when I was on the phone with her yesterday.

You are lucky that you didn't wait that long to get interview, I have waited nearly 2 years for this interview. My K1 visa took 3 and half years.

My case is breaking all records  in America. I don't mind spending more money on medical  exam and I won't wait till they tell me what to do, I don't have time to deal with it and have had enough it.

Thanks again.

BTW, medical report is good for 2 years, they told me in the letter from USCIS. If your interview was after May 2021, you would need to get new medical report before the interview.

There are 2 types of medicals: the one done at a foreign country, for visa purposes. And the one done inside the US, for Adjustment of status purposes.

The foreign doctor will use DS forms for the medical vaccine reports (not I-693). Doctors inside the US will use I-693.

When someone immigrating had a medical abroad before getting the visa, they can skip the medical inside the US (meaning they don't need to do a new medical) as long as the AOS is filed within 1 year of medical and vaccination sheet was marked completed. This medical done abroad is valid FOREVER if you meet those requirements

That's the case for most K1s: we had medicals in our home country, and we filed for AOS within 1 year, therefore we don't need a new medical before applying for AOS. If the vaccination requirement was not met, then they only need to fill out the vaccination part of the 693 (meaning a whole new medical is not necessary)

When AOS is done from other types of visas, or from K1 more than 1 year of the foreign medical, then a medical inside the US is necessary. And this medical will be valid for 2 years.

From your posts, I see that you didn't meet the vaccination requirements before getting the visa, so you needed a doctor here to give you the vaccine and sign the 683. Your mistake was to do that before applying for AOS. Medical is not required to be filed along with aos, you could've waited to do it when you received your interview date.

I didn't take vaccines in China. Many Chinese people who experienced is that USCIS will still require to take vaccines(when you are already in USA) even though you have taken any vaccines in China. Anyway, I don't see the point to discuss it any more, everybody has different experience ,even different  USCIS officers could judge in different way.

I just get my medical exam including vaccine done this morning. Medical report will be ready  in a few days.

Thanks anyway.
