Hey all.  My USC hubby texted me this morning that our petition was approved yesterday.

So, that was 170 days, or about 5.5 months. I can hardly believe it because all other indicators, including aggregated data from this site and others,  say it should have taken over a year just for approval. In addition, we thought our case was not that straightforward, however, I guess the USCIS thinks otherwise. They probably deal with much more complicated cases but, for myself, though, I half-expected to get an RFE at the very least.

But my spouse sent me a copy of the NOA2  and it seems legit LOL so idk...?  I'll add here that we've been down this immigration road before. I first immigrated in the US in March 2018 on a K1 visa. That took a bit over nine months in total. Got married there, ended up abruptly returning to Canada 6 months later,  under not-ideal circumstanes, without a greencard or advance parole. As most here will know, you can't just turn around and stroll back across the border without paperwork.  Long story short, Time and COVID intervened, and it ended up taking three years to get the I-130 application done and sent off. PD for that was March 1.

Not gonna go into any more detail than that, but that initial K1 visa application took longer to approve than this I-130 application. So, I am happy but kind of baffled and cautious because it seems too good to be true LOL.  Although I expect the NVC stage to drag on now. That was the shortest part of it for the K1 process but this time of course, things are different.

Anyhow. Who knows, maybe we got lucky or they're moving things along faster now. But I know there are many people who've been waiting a lot longer just for their NOA2.

Okay so, if anything changes or we get more info that might be helpful to others, I'll let y'all know. :)  Cheers!

Yes. Which, by all accounts, is taking 13 to 17 months for approvals.

Wow! I am also at Potomac and although they aren't listed as the slowest on USCIS website, the random data I've collected and seen shows they are lol. Very happy to hear this news. Keep up updated with NVC. ❤️

our case was approved!

3/1/21 PD (Texas, although it said Nebraska at first, I heard that was a bug with the status check site)

3/25/21 actively being reviewed

3/28/21 reassigned to California Service Center (we were not informed, called USCIS last month and was told we have had CSC since this reassignment date)

8/18/21 actively being reviewed

8/18/21 approved, no RFE

when we saw the status changed to actively being reviewed, we logged into uscis and found the approval under the documents tab, later in the day, the status check site updated to approved as well

now we're waiting for an email from NVC for our case number

Hi All,

Our i130 was approved today (August 20). We submitted the i130 application on March 3rd. So that’s about 5.5 months.

I’ve learned that it is best not to worry about which processing center you were assigned, and the wait times published by uscis.

Online after applying it was Nebraska, NOA1 was from Texas, NOA2 was from California. And the Uscis site says California takes about 2 years to process i130’s. Go figure

wow!congratulations!

It's a long long journey till i find my way home to you

We received our NOA1 today in the mail from the Texas Service Centre address but when i checked the status online, via https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/mycasestatus.do, this is whats there,

Case Was Received and A Receipt Notice Was Sent

It did not show which Service centre it is online but the letter in the mail carries the Texas address. Does this message means the case is being actively or the message will change to that when its being reviewed. Secondly, do we have to wait till it says actively reviewed to really know where it really is?

thanks
