Spanish Marriage Certificate

Good morning!

 

I recently got married in Mexico. My husband is from Russia.

 

We got a certified copy & translation of the document to English. I am guessing I need to also get a translation direct from Spanish to Russian, yes? I cannot do Spanish to English to Russian?

@Lucky Cat I think to enter Russia as his spouse (if I would like to visit, which I do plan to in April or so) I need the certificate translated to Russian. Maybe that is incorrect and they will accept it in English?

My wife and I never had our English marriage certificate translated into Russian so I could apply for a home stay 3 year visa.  It has been my experience that Russian CBP (or whatever they are called) is only interested in someone having the proper visa.

 

I should note, that if there are plans to actually immigrate to Russia at some point, then a translation would most likely be necessary.

Thank you for the info! Did you get your marriage certificate apostilled? I do not believe I need to have it apostilled to apply for the US i-130, but I may need it to enter Russia?

No, we never did that.  I don't think anyone has ever asked me for my marriage certificate when I entered Russia either by myself, or with my wife.

Oh, okay thank you! I believe that now I will need it with covid restrictions to enter Russia as his wife, and I think I have to show it to get a private one-time entry visa for that purpose. Still trying to figure out exactly what is needed.

I agree, things may have changed.  I need to start looking into visas again as my current visa expires in May.  We did not go to Russia last year as we normally do, so I am not sure what may now be required.  I am hoping that getting one of the vaccines will allow for freer travel in the not to distant future.

There is conflicting info out there on what kinds of visas they're actually giving out right now. Right now I am in the process of applying for my second 3 year private, multi entry visa through world visa center in Washington. Previously I dealt with ils in New York (pre pandemic) in person. Both are great services, however this service does everything remotely and accepts online payment. One thing we did notice is on the US embassy Russia site, a section which once read that immediate family is allowed into country, has now changed to "generally not admitted" under a tourist visa. Now I am not sure if I fall under this umbrella (Wife is providing invitation and traveling with my infant son (Russian passport holder) and I (USC). We wanted to visit next month, but may wait until the fall until there is more clarity.

Will find out next week, if it is approved, but this is what I applied for.
