As a July filer, I want to curl into a ball and cry 😃

When we filed the petition, NOA2 estimate was 6-8 months. I don't even know what to do now...I haven't seen my partner since March 2020 and with no way to tell how long the wait is gonna be, I'm losing all hope.

Good luck to you guys. I've been reading the forum every day, rooting for you all.

Processing times change all of the time. Just because there is a slowdown now it does not mean that it will stay that way forever. It is so easy for people to assume based on the current processing timeline that it will continue like this when that is not necessarily the case. There might be a significant increase in processing a couple of months (or days or weeks) from now. There is absolutely no telling, even immigration officers themselves are not always sure. I guess the saying goes that you should hope for the best, expect the worst, lol.

Yes, this is really true... processing has just been pummeled by so many things: Omnicron, vaccine mandates, unprecedented filing rates... It does sound like USCIS is completely aware of the slowdown here, it just feels much worse to us because we’ve been holding our breath since November. I still vividly remember when they just stopped progressing any further - that felt like *ages*.

One thing I’m curious about is if all officers are trained on each visa type. Like, can they reallocate resources to meet demand?

I try not to look until later on in the day so I don't get discouraged!

I am a march 8 filer. On December 28, I received this reply to my second inquiry :

According to our records, your Form I-129F petition is assigned to an officer and under active review. While we are unable to project a specific date a decision will be rendered in your case, new correspondence can be expected shortly.

Today I called USCIS, and the agent that I talked to told me that my case waiting for the background checks. He said that USCIS didn't receive the background checks from the foreign country that my fiancé is from.

I just want to ask if anyone in this group have received a similar response to the inquiry, and how long did it take to get approved.

And if you guys have any thoughts on how long background checks take.

I received that same response about being in active review on 12/30. When I called to follow-up about two weeks later, they reiterated the same thing and I asked to be put in queue to speak with T2 agent. I have not received noa2 or the call yet.

I am curious, though... did you call USCIS or did you have a T2 agent call you?  If you are the one who called, did you say or ask anything specific to be provided with that information about the background checks?

I just called the USCIS number. I told the agent that I have received this response to my last inquiry and I'm just worried why its taking that long. I told him if there is anything wrong with my case. He told me to wait so he could look more into it. He confirmed the response for the inquiry, then told me that with my case they are waiting for the background checks. He said that they are waiting for the foreign country's background check clearance.

I was surprised that he gave me this information. I usually not get a response when calling.

I just called out of curiosity and they said I’m still in queue to receive a call from a T2 agent. He also said that everything looks good and I am “not missing anything” but have to keep waiting. 😂 I hope it’s true that I am not missing anything...

I do find it interesting that you were told that your fiancé(e)’s background check has not come back. For the I-129F they supposedly only do background checks on the petitioner, and the beneficiary at the time of the interview.

That's what I have always thought. I am kinda nervous now that the background checks might take a long time.

I hope you will hear great news from T2 agent about your case.

My impression is that they're not going to be working, but apparently they've been adjudicating the petitions from home anyway. I don't think we'll see any approvals come through, but perhaps they'll be a few more Tuesday morning. We've seen last week 20 approvals come through within 30 minutes of opening and then radio silence for hours, so who knows?

On a positive side, groups 57xx - 605x seem to be around 50% completed. Yesterday the cases completed seemed to be mostly in the upper portion of those. I hope we'll see movement into the 610 - 650 groups soon; i.e., the next 'batch'. 815 petitions in some stage of completion thus far for March, and this week was our best with 165 done (thanks chart-makers!). Is that great? No lol, but we'll see. I find it highly unlikely with this pace that late March filers will be done by March or even April.
