Hello March 2021 filers still waiting for NOA2,

Looking ahead, my fiancee (beneficiary) does not have a computer to file DS-160, or to schedule the consulate interview. She only has her cell phone, and add to that she may not be as computer literate.

Is it okay if I (the USC petitioner) submit the DS-160 and schedule the interview for her on my computer from here in the US? I can contact the consulate via email for her? And post office mail to her copies all of the submissions to her before her interview to take with her to the interview? Thanks in advance.

we also ran out of processing time, but we are still waiting.  they say that this letter is meaningless, they have one answer to everyone: we are actively considering your case

Hi March 15 filer here. Just submitted our outside of processing time request as well. No news… I find it strange there has been barely any march approvals when they are already on March 17 on the website.

As someone unfortunately pointed out, the estimated times are from 2 months ago, meaning they could be very behind and we're only finding out about it now. It's extremely depressing, considering none of us heard anything and there felt like a lot of excitement a few weeks ago, but there's nothing that really can be done. Is there any truth in being able to only submit two inquiries, by the way? I feel like we all are doing so but are going to get the same responses.

2 months ago?! Wow that’s really behind. I find it unfair the lack of transparency USCIS. It’s very depressing. Seems like they’ve been getting through February and there have been rarely any March cases approved/RFEs/Denials. I’m not sure about the 2 inquiries… at some point they’ll have to change the dates to properly reflect the backlog situation

If you are outside normal processing times you can also put your inquiry to OMBUDSMAN....https://www.dhs.gov/case-assistance

Thank you kindly for linking me to this! Our NOA1 is March 18, which is exactly the date listed for processing time on USCIS’ website, so I presume my earliest time to submit will be tomorrow (which I will do to both USCIS and Ombudsman).

If I may ask, what does sending an inquiry to Ombudsman do, is it an entirely different agency, are they likely to give a response different than USCIS or is their responsibility to ensure the case is moving along? I’m very grateful for you keeping up with us March filers so many months later!

Sure no problem. I feel bad. I’m not sure what’s taking so long with Feb and March filers. So the ombudsman makes sure USCIS is doing there job properly and handling any cases outside normal processing. They are basically the watchdog for USCIS. Some people do better with contacting them instead of the senator or rep. This link may help too https://www.dhs.gov/topic/cis-ombudsman

if you scroll down they say wait 60 days after your inquiry with USCIS. But I know some that have put it in at the same time. Just so everyone knows that it is another option to inquire about your Case. The way things are going now March filers are looking at significant longer wait then months previously.

Thank you so much! The fact that this is all of us really makes me think something's gone terribly wrong; I hope the previous filers notifying the Omudsman draws some attention to the situation. So far, everyone from March that's submitted an inquiry has gotten a generic reply, and it's clear to me we're not even being looked at. Praying for some good news soon... I'm beyond depressed to think even a year for the K1 visa was a pipe dream at this point.

Updating with some good news: from the Facebook group for March filers, someone got a response to their inquiry saying they were currently pending adjudication (March 3 NOA1). Seems like the first response we've gotten out of the March group that hasn't just said to wait; let's hope we see numbers soon!

She said the received date is 02/27, it’s just that her NOA1 hard copy date (notice date) is 03/03. NOA1 is the received date but people confuse the two dates.

There was someone in the comments there who also claims a March 5th NOA1 date and an approval today; I agree the received date could've been conflated for the 2/27 one, but regardless, that's still quite late in February and looks very promising for us. Very interested about the March 5th, though.

Update: I just went to submit a case inquiry and noticed that the processing times have changed. Though still 6-8 months, you now have to be before March 13th to submit an inquiry; yesterday it was March 18th and thus I was going to submit mine today. So that's of note, someone is aware they're taking longer than expected, but this delay is not enough for them to abandon the 6-8 month timing. Perhaps we're not all that delayed after all.
