I met a girl from venezuela online . I live in Las Vegas and i am a u.s citizen . At the moment , she’s going to get her passport so I can see her some other place rather than venezuela . If things go well , I’m planning to petition her to come to the United States . How can I start the process to bring her over to the U.S ? Where can I go since venezuela does not have an U.S consulate? . In addition , if we do the paperwork in some other country , does she have to go back to venezuela to wait for her papers ? According to the internet , a Venezuelan can only stay legally for 6 months in places like Colombia or Mexico ... what’s the easiest thing for me to do?

Meet face to face first

Lol I know that . It’s just that we been talking for 7 months , FaceTime etc . I just want to be informed , in case it happens . I would make a decision based off that one face to face meeting .

Hey,

First she needs the Passport, after that she can do Dominican Republic or Mexico both are good options for Venezuelan, meet her there and them you can file for the K1 visa. She needs to stay in Venezuela during the process and maybe go to Colombia like a month before the interview at the Bogota Embassy to do medical exams, for the petition you have to put the Bogota Embassy that's the one serving Venezuelan Citizens.

Document your meeting.  After your meeting and you file the petition its going to take at least a  year

YMMV

Thank you . I’m brand new to this . Do I petition her from Las Vegas ? Do I start the paperwork in the United States , while she is in venezuela ? .

That’s fine . I’m not rushing . I would be fine with waiting a year but I’m confused whether after that one meeting she has to go back to venezuela and wait there

She can stay anywhere she can legally stay for as long as they will legally allow.

First have the meeting, she will go back to Venezuela and you to Vegas, if everything works for both file the I-129f form (that's the petition) including all the information, proof of meeting, payment, etc.

and the she would have to go to Colombia for the interview , right ? . What happens after the interview ?  Is she granted the k-1 visa after the interview ?

If your petition got approved, she will need to schedule the interview at the Bogota Embassy to show all the requirements, if the visa is approved she will need to wait for her passport with the visa and some documents in Bogota, use the hotel address or pick it up later at the embassy, them she can fly the same or the very next day, it's a long process my suggestion, read a lot, document yourself.

Since I see your in Las Vegas, so am I, and I have done the K1 process for my wife, and helped a few other people. I may be able to help you out with the process in person after you meet and decide you want to proceed. And as a bonus when she does arrive here on the K1, I can do the marriage and get you the certificates same day. Message me and I can give you my contact information. But I agree with everyone else, definitely meet in person first and see how it goes. Maybe even meet twice to really get a feeling for how the relationship is going. I have done some contract work in Venezuela, and currently it isn't a great place to visit( and that was a few years ago), and getting a passport there is quite a feat in itself, so if she can pull off a passport that would be the first step. Anything government required is a matter of bribing the right official to get things done there from my experience. Remember, it got so bad the US closed up and left the embassy there because the situation was that bad, so meet first, and go from there. Best of luck, and when it comes time I can give you some pointers with the I-129F.

I like this post very much . I am investigating her . Although she lives in venezuela , she does not ask me for money . She seems to be good so far and she’s going to get her passport on April 15th . Now , does she take the medical exam in venezuela or Colombia ?. Lets say we meet on April and then she goes back to venezuela to wait for the paperwork , where does she take the medical exam? In Colombia or venezuela ? . I aware there is not an us consulate in venezuela .
