Hi,

I am preparing to file an I-130 application for my mother. Since I am currently unemployed, do I need to attach any additional documents or forms from my spouse to show financial eligibility at this point. If so, what forms need to filled out? I have been trying to file the online i-130 in the morning and for some reason the link is not responsive. I am not sure if its the USCIS website or something at my end that isn't working. Also, am I supposed to submit copies of documentary evidence while filing this form online or at a later on stage?  I have not filed any applications online through the USCIS website so am totally clueless. Your experience and advice is highly appreciated. Thanks

You have to submit the documents for financial support (I-864) at the NVC stage after the I-130 will have been approved. This link is quite helpful to get an overview: http://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-1-submit-a-petition/affidavit-of-support.html

However, you should already submit any evidence that proves your relationship now together with your online petition.

At the risk of sounding obvious, reading the instructions is always useful. Page 6, general requirements lists what documents need to be provided, obviously you will read the sections that are relevant to you.
