We had our interview in Ciudad Juarez (Mexico) today and it didn’t go great but I guess could have gone worse.

We arrived to find out that all appointments are now being split into two appointments, the first appointment to submit documents and the second for the actual interview.

When my wife submitted her documents they wouldn’t not take the additional packet with updated evidence of our relationship, and there were several documents from the packet which they also refused to accept, stating they either already had or didn’t need them. It turns out one of the documents they returned to us, was the print out from the US gov website reciprocity schedule showing they don’t accept police reports from Indonesia. Indonesia (the country my wife is from) is one of the only countries in the world the reciprocity schedule states it doesn’t accept police reports from.

My wife attended the actual interview and most of it was focused on terrorism. They wanted to confirm she hadn’t ever visited a long list of destinations known for terrorism.

Then they asked her why she didn’t submit a police report for Indonesia. She stated (correctly) that the US government does not accept Police Records from Indonesia. They seemed confused at this and like they did not believe it.

She received a 221g for not including her police report from Indonesia.

I went directly to the consulate to inquire about it and showed them the document from the website that proves they don’t accept police records from Indonesia. They told me that’s what they need to send to the consulate and gave me instructions for sending it via DHL.

We just sent it and it will arrive on Monday.

My questions:

1. What are generally the next steps and timeline here? As I understand it, This is administrative processing? They still have her passport also if that matters.

2. What happens if for some reason, the document explaining that they don’t accept police records from Indonesia, isn’t what they wanted?

My wife is looking into it now and she can obtain a police report from Indonesia, even though the US gov officially says they don’t accept them.

If for some reason the documents we printed from their own website don’t suffice, what will happen next? Will we be able to submit more documents? Or will our entire application just be rejected outright at that point?

We submitted our documents (in our case, a printout of the reciprocity schedule proving police reports are not available to applicants inside and outside Indonesia).

It arrived at the consulate March 1st, and our case was updated on the 2nd and 4th. However on the CEAC website our case is still showing as refused and has nto yet moved to AP.

On the AIS website, it show applicant has no 221g history even though we received a 221g form.

Is something wrong?
