Hello All!

I am an US Citizen (lived there till 2010) and currently residing and working in Europe with my husband, who is an Indian National. Under CR1 Visa, I am the petitioner and my husband is the applicant. We got notification from NVC that our documents have been approved and we will get an interview date allotted, but have some questions.

1) I wasn't able to upload anything to prove my Domicile, but it still got approved - but I highly believe that this question will be brought in the interview. What can I show as domicile if I do not have a bank account or any of the aspects they mentioned in the FAQ of NVC - any suggestions what I should?

2) How long does it usually take to the interview invite?

3) Should I start applying for jobs in the US as it is all work from home now? I am an IT Professional.

Thank you!

You, likely,  will be asked to provide evidence of intent to re-establish domicile in the US.  That is a requirement for sponsoring a new immigrant.  Sometimes, US citizens have to re-locate to the US alone, establish domicile, then the immigrant visa is issued.  I would suggest taking concrete steps showing intent to live in the US such as job seeking, opening a bank account, seeking a place to live, etc.  It might be worth your time to make a temporary trip to the US.  Below is the interview process after being document qualified at NVC:

1. Case is DQ'd by NVC.

2. Case then enters NVC queue for your consulate and waits at NVC.

3. Consulate informs NVC of available interview date for upcoming month.

4. NVC schedules interview when case reaches the front of the queue for that consulate.

5. NVC notifies person of interview date via email.

6. NVC then sends case to consulate.

After the interview is scheduled, it can take several days to several weeks for the consulate to receive the case.

Good Luck!!!

1. Domicile is something the Consulate will address. What were you going to upload to show domicile?

2. Big unknow, the whole process maybe 18 months to 2 years?

3. Well that depends, usually Employers are looking at wanting people to start fairly soon, how quick can you move?
