Instructions say transcript OR tax return. Maybe you filed your taxes jointly?

If you do submit tax return(s), make sure to attach ALL necessary forms, W2, 1099, etc with it.

Quote from the I-864 instructions:

As I understand, if you decide to submit your tax return(s), only the most recent year will suffice?

No, my husband was my sponsor and he filed single the year before. We sent tax account transcripts and got RFEd, even though the tax account transcripts have more info than the tax returns.

It's not about having more info, it's about sending exactly what they ask for. Your RFE was correct since you sent the wrong transcript.

Only the latest one is required. It doesn't matter if it's transcript or the whole 1040 package.

How do you know it was the "wrong transcript"? In the instructions it clearly states that you can send either your tax return or your transcript. Could you elaborate?

For the I-864 you can CHOOSE to submit your three most recent tax years, either returns or transcripts, as per the instructions. You HAVE to submit only your most recent one.

When you go to the IRS website that are a couple of different types of transcripts.

The one that USCIS asks for is the Tax Return Transcript. The one that @ra0010 sent was a Tax Account Transcript, so it was the wrong transcript. They are different and there's a reason why USCIS wants the return transcript, not the account.

No, it’s not that it wasn’t enough. We just didn’t send too much evidence with our package because you do have the chance to submit evidence at the interview. But our interview got cancelled, so they needed to see the evidence somehow.

We sent:

bank statements,

tax returns

him added to my bank account and me added to his

the lease with both our names

ahared amazon prime account

health insurance

car insurance

cards from guests to our wedding

Three affidavits

wedding album

everyday album

random mail coming to our house (same address)

DL (same address)

oh ok, because basically I sent all that, so I guess just in case I should gather more evidence.

Thanks!!
