N400 interview scheduled

Hi all,

 

So I recently received an email saying that the USCIS has taken action on my application that needs my attention, when I opened my account it states that they already scheduled my interview and that I just need to wait for the interview notice.  What surprised me is that my estimated date of completion changed from March 2021 to November 2021 . Is that a normal thing? Thank you.

Yes. Everyone is seeing this now when they get the interview notice. Suddenly the estimated completion date jumps 6 months (even though the interview is scheduled much sooner than 6 months away). I am expecting to get my interview scheduled notice any day now and I have been following posts with deep interest regarding interview notices and have seen several cases of this in the last month.

I see . Thank you for letting me know. I hope my interview is not scheduled near the estimated completion date lol I want to get this process done and overwith 😅

Me too! I’ve been waiting since September 2019 and my patience is wearing thin. 😀

With the directive from the WH to clear the backlog and speed up the process, the processing estimates are jumping all over.

Hi, was your estimated wait time accurate on your case before you got your interview? It's down below your online account & different from completion time. Mine's stating 5 months for next move--which is interview, but just checking to see if it could be sooner than what is estimated. Thanks!

Depends on the office. For my office the estimation has been wrong many times, initially my completion date was December 2020, then January 2021. Here we are almost in March and no word yet on my interview. Many other filers from the Seattle office have found the online estimated wait times and completion dates to be inaccurate. I don’t even have an estimated date or wait time on my account page anymore - just the dreaded “we are taking longer than usual...” message.

Update: just found out that my interview is scheduled on March 30,2021. Hoping for an oath the same day. Wish me luck! 😀

Mine used to say that, then today when the status changed to "Interview was scheduled" the estimated wait time changed to October 2021 (8 months).

My interview was scheduled yesterday and my wait time reappeared....14 months! April 2022! I applied in 2019. Fortunately my interview will be next month. I can’t imagine having to wait another 14 months.

That is craziness! I did hear that there's an oath backlog at my local office. I don't trust the 8 month estimate at all. I think these might be extreme "worst case scenario" numbers. They don't seem to be accurate at all.

Fortunately Seattle is doing same-day oaths. It’s the least they can do when they take so long to process the applications. No ceremony. Just you and the interviewer after the interview there in the office. At least then you can say “it’s done!”.

Oh that's great! They were doing same day oaths here and then stopped, that's what I heard others say. Not sure what the reasoning behind that was. Would be nice if the resumed it again, especially since there's a backlog.

If your interview is before 4/19/21, you will have the option of either the 2008 or 2020 version. I personally would choose the 2008.
