Quitting GC process after I-130 approval

My wife and I began her GC application in 2019, and in March of 2020, she received her I-130 approval. However, that's right when COVID hit our area of the world, and the consulate paused interviews for a while. In the meantime, we decided not to move to the US at this time, given the way things have gone down (not that it's any better here, it's terrible!). Her one-year deadline to move ahead is coming up, but we'd rather abandon the GC this time and try again later on down the road if we want.

 

Do we need to formally withdraw her application, or can we just let it run out? Thanks!

The I-130 remains valid as long as the relationship continues.  You do not to formally withdraw.  The case will expire at NVC eventually.

You can also just contact NVC once a year and then later when you do decide to move to the US go through NVC and later steps.

Thank you! What's the best way to contact them? I didn't know that the I-130 approval will persist if you do this. Thanks!

Thanks! I thought your application would get canceled. Can I just log into the NVC website and that counts? Otherwise, what am I supposed to say in the public inquiry form? Thanks again!
