Whats up guys,

So I applied for my K-1 visa September 2020, and at the end of the month its going to be 6 months since. We are still waiting on getting our 129-F approved. Just wondering if anyone had any insight as to what to expect when it comes to waiting time? I watched a video today with Jacob the immigration lawyer from SD in YouTube and he said if you were to apply today for a k-1 visa it would take the normal 8-9 months + a year! Now I did apply nearly 6 months ago but that number is scary and my thoughts and prayers goes out to everyone waiting. Any insight?

What country are you dealing with?  There are 2019 filers for some countries still waiting... Including myself. There are and will be backlogs for some countries who aren't processing visas to those who are doing limited processing.

Without knowing where your fiancé lives is too broad to tell you. I filed mid September 2020. The Country has been issuing K1’s moreso compared to others. Timelines I follow are positive. I’m hoping less than 8.

USCIS currently has K1 Visa Processing Times at the California Service Centre, between 6 to 8 months. I'm in Australia and my NOA1 was on September 4th 2020, so I too am hoping that it will be less than 8 months.

You can check for your own processing times at this link.

I applied in May 2020, took 8 months for an NOA2. Depending on the country your biggest hurdle will be getting an interview, if it’s a covid travel ban country then at the minute it’s an indefinite wait. Hopefully some movement happens soon but don’t expect anything quickly.

I sent my I-129F February 2020.  Got NOA1 letter March 2020.  Got NOA2 letter December 2020 stating it's approved and will be forwarded to the National Visa Center (NVC).

So about 9 to 10 months?  Sent it to Texas location for processing.

My petition hit the Texas lockbox on 1/26/2021.  Should I expect months before the NOA1?  Also, what does it mean that they are backdating?

Yes it’s takes about 2-3 months to receive the receipt letter.
Backdating the receive date. Ex: they got your 01/26/2021 let’s say if you finally get your receipt notice (NOA1) 2 or 3 month later . Those months you had waiting for the NOA1 will counts towards your NOA2 processing.
