"On the green is Michele Wie, and she is getting ready to putt," Giuliani said, in part. "Now Michelle Wie is gorgeous. She's 6 feet. And she has a strange putting stance. She bends all the way over. And her panties show. And the press was going crazy. ... I said '[Rush], it's not me, it's not you.'"

Giuliani concluded his story by asking, "Is it OK to tell that joke?"

Wie West took to Twitter on Friday night, not noting Giuliani by name.

"What this person should have remembered from that day was the fact that I shot 64 and beat every male golfer in the field leading our team to victory," she wrote. "I shudder thinking he was smiling to my face and complimenting my game while objectifying me and referencing my 'panties' behind my back all day."

You can be the best at your game, better than the men you're playing with, and still you're only a piece of you know what. If you doubt that sexism exists, think about this.

LPGA tweeted its support for Wie:

Acquaintance pointed out to me that there used to be some really hot lady golfers.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I agree that Rudy's comment was wrong.  So stupid.  He easily could have told the story in another way without being offensive and still made the point  that the the paparazzi were following them because of Michelle.  Was this in the news when it happened?  I seem to recall another story about something similar a few years back.

I have always liked Michelle.  I used to golf a lot and appreciate the skills involved.  It was fun watching her compete with the pros as a teenager, often outdriving them!  It's too bad she had so many injuries and has never peaked as a pro.  Yet. She still has time.  The Koreans seem to be dominating women's golf now.

She is right to call him out, but there is more to the big picture.  Good looking female golfers use their looks to make more money.  A lot more.  I'm sure their agents encourage them to dress a certain way, and many have lucrative clothing endorsements, as well as equipment endorsements.  Many are very fit and attractive athletes, and even those who are not at the top of the game can make a lot of money.

Sexism in this case?  Not sure that is an appropriate description in this scenario.  DirtyOldManism might be more appropriate.  As far as the golf, "at the top of your game" and "better than the men you are playing with" doesn't really seem applicable to the situation.

If it is anything like K-Pop, you are probably right, these folks are highly orchestrated for the almighty dollar.  Golf is huge in Korea, and yet they have very few actual golf (somewhere around 500 compared to over 15K in the US), but they have over 10k golf training centers (driving ranges and video golf facilities).

As to the OP, Rudy is ready for the pasture, he was not a good pick by Trump as a personal lawyer especially considering he only seemed interested in going on television and spouting off.  He gets credit for his leadership of NYC after 9-11, but since then it has been downhill.

Hopefully this was the bottom. Rudy was one of those people who said dumb things and people laughed and it was funny for a little while, but I think he has reached the point now where you just hope he doesn't say anything.

Oh, I think he could go further down.  He could reach the level of the grandmother in Wedding Crashers.

I don't say stupid things when I'm drunk, unless it was something I already wanted to say. Rudy certainly doesn't need alcohol to say stupid things, and given his existing lack of judgement, I don't think I would really want to see him less inhibited.

Isn't that pretty much what everyone says when they says things under the influence?

She was doing her job, conforming to a dress code, in a stance her coach told her was good for her form.

You know, as a one time "hot chick" (I am told) it is very boring to simply be out there in the world, doing your job, looking nice for yourself. I wear makeup, because it's fun and an expression of myself. My husband doesn't care and often doesn't even notice I have changed up my makeup. Same with clothing -- for myself, no one else. (I dress very, very boringly in the COVID19 era, so many leggings and t-shirts.) But even when I do venture out into the world in leggings, just doing a pickup at the pharmacist, I get hassled. I don't want it, don't ask for it, and it is deeply upsetting at times.

Being called "baby" by randos in the line for the compounding pharmacy isn't nice, or called for, or most importantly "a compliment." None of you men will ever know what it's like to be in these situations. NB, I am not calling you out in particular. Just all of you know most women know the difference between being complimented and being harassed. I'm sure Michelle Wie knows what's what.
