Hi all

At what stage can you change embassy location? We are waiting for NOA2 and the beneficiary is moving to work in a different country for a while (Ireland to uk). Is this something that takes a long time to change?

TIA

Can only be done at NVC stage or later

YMMV

Thanks for the quick reply. Do you know if it takes a long time to process or is just a quick change on their system if you call up?

If you are able to intercept at NVC, its more than a call, as you need to provide evidence that the change is warranted.

YMMV

My experience with changing the embassy location with the NVC was very easy. I first called them and the person I spoke with provided me the following instructions:

———

They stated that I should put in the request via the Public Inquiry Form

- Go to NVC.state.gov/inquiry

- Fill out the necessary information

- In box titled “Type your question below” I was instructed to write exactly the following: “I am the petitioner and I wish to change the interview location to ______. Attached is principal applicant’s proof of residency for _______.”

- Add proof of residency using the attachments. This can be a residency card or the bio page of principal applicant’s passport.

———

My request was granted a few days later and a new case number was assigned. You may want to call the NVC to ensure your situation does not require anything different, but I hope this helped a little!

Hi I just wanted to update this post incase with what's happened incase anyone else is searching for answers related to this. The NVC were notified about me wanting to change to a different embassy (London) and then the next day sent it to the original embassy (Dublin). Dublin refused to see my case as they said even as an Irish citizen I was no longer living in their jurisdiction so it was transferred to London. They advised it would take around 8 weeks but it took four weeks and now it is at the new embassy with the same case number.
