As the supervisor says, it probably won't be a problem. I crossed the border numerous times during the 6 months I had the visa in my passport, and I know others have also. (I didn't use my visa until 2 days before it expired.) As long as you let them know when you are planning to use it they are fine with that. (During some crossings they didn't even remark on it.)

Wow, I don't think your situation is normal. Were you doing land crossings?

Yes, I believe they were all land crossings.

Since this was a concern to me (for personal and business reasons), I specifically asked this question at the Consulate. The officer told me that it was not policy that the visa holder be made to use it at the POE.... that it was the visa holder's own choice as to when it would be used. He also said that there was no guarantee that the CBP Agent would follow through on this policy. lol

He did offer, however, to hold the issuance of the visa until I was ready to come here. I would just need to send in my passport at a later date. I believe he said he could do this for up to 3 months.

Well let us know what happens. My guess is that they will let her continue on her flight to Canada and then she can reenter the US via the land border.
