N-400 - Self study Question ??

Hello,

 

Hope you all are doing good. Thank you in advance. 

I was filing out my N400 application and on  Part 8. Information About Your Employment and Schools You Attended. 

( List where you have worked or attended school full time or part time during the last five years. Provide information for the complete time period. Include all military, police, and/or intelligence service. Begin by providing information about your most recent or current employment, studies, or unemployment (if applicable). Provide the locations and dates where you worked, were self-employed, were unemployed, or have studied for the last five years. If you worked for yourself, type or print "self-employed." If you were unemployed, type or print "unemployed." If you need extra space, use additional sheets of paper.)

 

My question is...  I was not working in 2017  but I was doing  Self Study  at  home  from   06/28/2017  till  02/23/2018  to take  Personal care home administrator  license exam.  What should I write   ''STUDENT OR UNEMPLOYED'' ?

Sounds like "Unemployed" to me.....

Senior Master Sergeant, US Air Force- Retired (after 20+ years)- Missile Systems Maintenance & Titan 2 ICBM Launch Crew Duty (200+ Alert tours)

Registered Nurse- Retired- I practiced in the areas of Labor & Delivery, Home Health, Adolescent Psych, & Adult Psych.

IT Professional- Retired- Web Site Design, Hardware Maintenance, Compound Pharmacy Software Trainer, On-site go live support, Database Manager, App Designer.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

What exactly is “self study” I’ve never heard of that. It sounds like you were not actively enrolled in a school- you were only studying in your free time, correct? If so- then during that timeframe you would have been unemployed.

Apply for Social Security Card: 12/30/14 Connecticut

Marriage: 1/26/15

CIS Office : Hartford                                  Filed : 3/18/15

NOA : 3/25/15                                            Biometrics : 4/15/15

Approved: 8/31/15                                     Received: 9/8/15

 

EAD

Approved: 10/23/18 -no interview

Sorry if all you did was study- studying full time at home is not considered an enrollment in school.
