GREEN CARD ABANDONED??? NEED STATUS UPDATE

Hello everyone!  I have a question regarding obtaining a green card status without the receipt number.  I married my husband in 2012.  We were approved for a spousal visa and he entered the US in 2013.  We were able to remove conditions and were approved for his green card in 2013.  During our marriage I discovered he was scamming women around the world, had hidden bank accounts and was sending large amounts of money he had scammed women out of home to his family in Nigeria.  When I discovered what he was doing I confronted him and he moved out of the house. 2 weeks later he returned to Nigeria and has not returned to the US.   I am currently selling my home and buying another but since we dont have divorce papers I need to show he is not in the country and abandoned his green card.  I no longer have the receipt information to obtain a status online since it has been 8 years and also if I do have it in the house it would be packed somewhere right now.  Is there any way I can get the status information without the receipt information?

I would say no. His immigration files belongs to him, so USCIS won't give anything to you.

Any reason why you didn't file divorce? How are you 100% sure he didn't return to the US? If he really moved out of the US, there are ways to get divorced without his signature, so I would look into that before anything else.

There are 4 levels of corruption in this world;

1. Least corrupt

2. Moderately corrupt

3. Most corrupt

4. Nigeria.

What you do with this information is up to you. Anywho, USCIS will not give you that info

  You need to ask them what they want.  You are not longer together although still married.  Maybe the results of a paid for name search  would be enough.   One can only hope you reported his scamming to the proper authorities.  Letting people that do this stuff get off with just leaving you does nothing to help stop these criminals from destroying more lives.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

There is no way for you to obtain information on his status.  It may even be a crime for you to use the receipt to look up his information because of privacy laws.

Is there a reason you haven't filed for divorce?

How do you know he hasn't return to the US? He may have come back.

Speak to your banker about exactly what it is they need from you. Make it clear that although you are married you are separated and your spouse is MIA. You may need to ask for 'supervisor assistance' which in this case is probably the banker reaching out to underwriting and explaining things. Mortgages are often a difficult area when immigration is involved and different lenders have different requirements for approving loans. You may need to seek out a new lender. Lenders typically have a checklist type process and are often non negotiable on the items they require. The solution is often to have them use a different checklist rather then try to get them to override a required item. (Im not sure if that makes sense re reading it). What Im trying to say is them viewing you as they are is requiring you to show things you dont have and can not get. The simplest way to remedy that is to have them view you differently.
