Sen. Ted Cruz on Tuesday continued his public apology tour for his heavily criticized trip to Cancún last week amid a crippling power and water crisis across his home state.

But the Texas Republican repeatedly made light of the scandal and complained about his own family’s treatment by members of the media, as well as by neighbors who leaked the contents of a compromising group text chain.

Appearing on an episode of the conservative “Ruthless” podcast, which debuted a month after the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death last year, Cruz said he hadn’t experienced “this much negative press coverage since northern California in the 1960s” — a reference to the joking online insult that the senator is secretly the infamous Zodiac killer.

Cruz also referenced photos that circulated in recent days of his family’s pet dog, named Snowflake, seemingly abandoned at home while his owners absconded to Mexico.

You're blaming your own party, it was Democrats that drafted the bill at the last minute on the last day before congress adjourned, and it wasn't just a $600 stimulus payment, it also extended unemployment benefits.  Trump took what he could get to help Americans, unlike heartless Dems.

No blind devotion at all, I have openly acknowledged Trumps's flaws in several threads, Bottom line is, I'd vote for a selfish and greedy egomaniac any day over a liberal or Democrat, I openly accept all of Trump's personal flaws because he shares my ideology and has proven success in running the country...Liberals and Democrats on the other hand align with themselves with proven failures, they just elected one.. The blindness clearly comes from left, from people and the media who have overlooked Trump's successes because their blinded by their own personal hatred for the man.

I think he did a pretty good job too for the first three years in office. He blew it when Covid hit and from Election Day to leaving office he was severely derelict in his duties as President: That’s where I lost all respect for him.

Not a blind Trump sycophant, but I am not sure anyone would have done a good job in 2020.  He hurt himself a lot with his participation in the press briefings where he had to know he was going to be attacked by the leftist activist media, but it is what it is.  I have lost all respect for any elected politician in DC regardless of Party, but that is another story.  No one is in DC to actually serve the people that elected them.  Now we have an Administration that is so out-of-touch it is pathetic.  I love the pleadings by Biden and his mouthpieces telling future asylum seekers that now is not the right time to try and come to the US, I don't think the coyotes work that way.

No doubt 2020 was a very difficult year, even worse than the aftermath of September 11, 2001 in many ways. Trump’s job wasn’t to worry about the media attacking him. His job was to serve the American people and do his best to deal with the Covid situation. He was more worried about himself and blowing his own horn telling us how great  he was. He put himself first and he paid the price. Ditto from Election Day until his final day in office. It was all about him, not about us. He blew it, all on his own.

Believe it or not his approval rating went up during this time. So he was able to bypass the media and go directly to the people. The unfortunate thing was that he said some stupid stuff like drinking bleach and the UV light. Then the media ran with those small comments to make him look awful. 

They loved to rag on Trump so much because it increased ratings that they got him out of office, now they are scrambling because the ratings are in the tank
