Hi!

I am filling the form I-944 and have a question about the health insurance. I am from the Czech Republic & have “travel insurance” for a year which should cover any healthcare expenses here in the US. Can I submit this insurance proof as a evidence for the I-944 form or does it have to be a insurance from the US? (Since in my czech insurance there is no deductibles ot out of pocket etc. and it should cover everything)

Btw. I am also confused on the assets questions. Since my spouse (US citizen) has income about 125% above the poverty guidelines, do we still have to include assets, bank account statements etc?

Thank you!!!

The problem is you are not traveling you are emigrating.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I know, but still it is a proof that I am insured somewhere/somehow or no?

But... That policy wouldn't cover you. It's like telling the cop you've got home insurance when they ask about driving insurance.

Oh okay. Thank you. I thought it would work since if something happens to me they just want to see proof that I will have that taken care of.. and I will..

Detail whatever you will be getting best to keep it simple.

You'll have to check the fine print of your travel insurance coverage, as some policies clearly state that they are not valid for travellers who are immigrating to a different country.

My fiancé also took out a year-long travel insurance policy when he travelled abroad long-term. But that was because he was on a tourist visa and was clearly returning to the US after his travel abroad.
