RIP Rush Limbaugh

I think "living rent-free in <somebody>'s head" has gotten to be cliche. We all have our triggers. Maybe Limbaugh lives rent-free in my head, although it's not like I think about him much at all. I get angry when I read/hear one of his racist rants, and then I move on. I could easily say Nancy Pelosi lives rent-free in the heads of some people here, but I'm guessing those affected are the same. You get mad or annoyed, and then you just move on with the rest of your day.

To bring it back on topic, I never spent much time thinking about him but I think at this point he is literally and figuratively dead to me. He's the past and life goes on.

The good thing is that there is an archive of over 30 years of broadcasts, so his voice won't go away anytime soon.

Heh, I guess if you want to go back and listen to Rush rant and shame Monica Lewinsky or listen to him rail about how if Obamacare passes we'll all be standing in front of death panels within a few years then knock yourself out. The talk radio format doesn't really lend itself to historical listening. Hell, I was a big Jon Stewart fan and I don't ever find myself combing through the archives to find that one funny bit about GW.

Rush taught me not to take politics too seriously. Life is too short, and it's never a bad time to remember that. I hope he is at peace.

Yes it's kind of like when I watch Bill M. Agree with a few things. Disagree with a lot. Chuckle on a few things and realize he is in marketing and making the news makes him money. He has made some very inappropriate comments thru the years, still would never be classless enough to express glee at any misfortune he might have

watched a few minutes. He said white people historically owned fewer slaves in history and fought a clival war to end slavery. Also said Republican's need to reach out to minorities. Pointed out use of the N word by anyone is wrong. Hardly racist

Then you obviously misunderstood just about everything he said. He's the one who converted the religious and political warriors, and saw boogeymen around every corner. Not saying that the left is any better, but let's not pretend that Rush was a real conservative. He was an ultra wealthy plutocrat who sold his conservative bona fides to the ultra wealthy overlords so that he could somewhat join them (He was worth nearly $700m). Not that there is anything wrong with being wealthy, but when your wealth is derived from government contracts and deregulation that only serves you and your buddies, then you are no better than the lefties who want to give money to all the poor and immigrants.

I hope he is at peace, and I won't wish any ill will upon him, but American politics are a much better place without him. Now if only HIllary, Mitch, Donald, Pelosi and all the rest of the hypocrites would leave politics, we could actually pare down this government to what it was intended to be, without all the largesse via pork spending.

Yes, certainly many have made a career out of that. Perhaps you misunderstood what I was saying. We can learn not just from listening but from observing. What I see is many people are in too deep with politics to no real end or purpose. All the people we see getting arrested, consumed with vitriol, even getting themselves killed is just the tip of the iceberg. My wife lost one of her close friends over the election fraud conspiracy. It's enjoyable to debate politics, but it shouldn't take over peoples lives the way it has for some.

I listen to different talk shows driving to and from work. Some are liberal, some conservative. I occasionally listened to Rush, although not recently. I rarely agreed but I did try to hear. I can tolerate them all to an extent, and they all go off the deep end at times. When they do, I turn the channel to music. Or just turn it all off, quiet is good too sometimes. It doesn't drive my life enough to get caught up in the craziness.

Sorry LC in the 90’s Rush was a force, but he turned his message into an endless stream of rants, labels, and hate speech.
