Texas knew for years power grid was at risk but did little about it. Unbelievable.

once again, Texans are suffering because of a failure of disaster planning and investment to prepare for the worst.

First, it was the pandemic. Texas’ public health infrastructure has been shown for a year to be lacking, at both local and state levels. Leaders tried to craft a plan in 2015 to prepare for the inevitable, but it was stopped over political issues.

This time, it’s an unprecedented — but, importantly, not unpredictable — stretch of cold weather and storms blanketing the entire state. Public and private sector leaders may try to say there’s no way they could have been prepared for this. That’s a line of bull that no Texan should accept.

Most of the US power grid is vulnerable to a variety of problems that could wreak havoc upon it, cyber attacks, terrorist attacks, etc.

Not to mention the huge load some want to put on the grid by going to all electric transportation in the not to distant future.

Quite true. The demand for electricity is constantly increasing.

Was out of power from 2:45 Tuesday morn till 5:35 Wednesday eve.

Water pressure was quite low for most of Wednesday.

We'll see if today is for real or part of a rolling blackout.

 

In addition:  From now on, failure of the electricity to go out shall be referred to as a power innage.
