Hey!!

So me and my fiancee we've been wondering, do we need to see each other after getting married online?

We saw each other multiple times before. But in order to file for CR1 do we need to see each other?

Yes

YMMV

I believe that if you're married virtually you must visit each other afterwards in order to consummate the marriage before it will be recognized as legitimate. I also believe consummation is reached by the act of being in each other's presence in this case, you won't have to give them any other details 😅

👐

Patience......patience.

You need to do more than that LOL

The couple must submit evidence they were together in person AFTER any proxy or online marriage, and before filing the petition.  Because of this, it's usually best to just have the wedding when you are together in person.

Thank you so much for the response. So, does this mean that to the PDF that we will have to create (Bona Fide marriage), that will include our photos, gifts, plane tickets, receipts etc we will just have to include for example photos and tickets AFTER getting married online and seeing each other in order to apply for the CR1? Or do we have to do anything else while filling the petition?

It's very hard right now to get married for an American citizen in Poland with Polish citizen because Polish law requires many things that people in the US don't need to provide while getting married then. It could take up to 3-4 months until we get approved in Poland and my fiancee can't stay this long in Poland.

Right now, begin becoming an A-Student of the I-130 instructions.  There are two separate issues.  All the evidence you mentioned goes to show a bona fide relationship but your initial question is about an online marriage, or any marriage that takes place without both parties being present, such as proxy marriage.  In those cases you must demonstrate that you have consummated the marriage, by being together in person AFTER the "wedding".

No matter how bona fide the "relationship" is, the marriage itself must be accepted.

Why not consider marrying in a third country, one where you can both be together and meet the requirements.  Gibraltar might not work right now, but it's often a go-to option in these situations.

Here's the exact text from page 2 of the I-130 instructions that pushbrk mentioned:

You may NOT file Form I-130 for a person in the following categories:

4. A spouse, if you and your spouse were not both physically present at the marriage ceremony, unless the marriage was

consummated;

You cannot submit the petition until after you are married IN PERSON. It will be denied because as of now, it is not a petitionpble relationship.

Yes I completely understand, I CAN'T submit the petition after the marriage until we consummate it IN PERSON AFTER the marriage. That is all I was asking about. Thank you so much for your responses
