Perfect, so your circumstance is unique to marriages conducted by Clergy of the "established Church of England".  Unique indeed.

Wel back then I would have thought this was the norm, certainly went to a few Marriages at Registry Offices, but most weddings I went to were the same as this.

Not even really a religious thing, most of my friends were like me, Birth Deaths and Marriages.

Different countries, different cultures, different practices.

The Queen is the head of the Church of England in the same way the Pope is the head of the Roman Catholic Church.  It's a government church, so uniquely connected TO the government.  Makes sense.  Not sure if things work that way anywhere else or with any other Church even in England.

In China, you walk out with official marriage certificates because all legal marriages are done in the government marriage office.  No church or other Officiant involved.  But, for US Immigration, you need an official government translation of that little passport looking booklet.  THAT can be expedited for a bribe or fee, but often takes a few weeks normally.  In the US, each State is Different, but if you really want, you can usually get the real document within a day or two, or even the same day for a courthouse wedding.

Hi. My partner and I are getting married in April and are looking to start the CR1 process immediately. We've been hovering in this forum, downloading forms, and gathering documents ready to go.

One thing we've noticed on the forum is that people rarely send the i130 straight after getting married and we wondered if there was a reason. We've been together for 4 years, living together for 3 of those, so we have no concerns of evidencing the authenticity of our relationship, but it occurred to us that immediate filing of the i130 might be a red flag for the NVC that could delay the process.

Any guidance or advice greatly appreciated.

The sooner the better.  As soon as you have your marriage certificate in hand, go for it!
