Hello everyone glad to find a support group for the dominican filers...the whole situation is hard...my NOA2 is about to expired on march 24  routine services are still close in DR..is ridiculous at this point

Hello and welcome to the group B&00302! We're happy you found us! I looked up your current situation with the expiration date and found a discussion group called "Expiration Confusion". Others have said the embassy should automatically grant an extension, however, I feel like we have to be proactive regarding our cases and I feel like you should call USCIS and speak to someone about this so you are at ease and not stressing about this. When did you receive your NOA2? I don't understand why you haven't heard anything from the NVC at this point! Don't stress though, just make some calls to get someone to explain where your documents are at and ask when your paperwork will be sent to the NVC.

Yes, of course you can join, welcome! I'm so happy to hear USCIS is moving right along with the cases. You received your RFE a lot quicker than I had! You and I are at the same point in the process now and I'm praying hard we receive a response by the end of next month. Ellievibez said she received her approval after submitting her RFE documentation just a month later. Fingers crossed we'll be at this point soon! To be quite honest, I'm not sure how long most people have to wait to receive a response but I do believe it depends on how complex your RFE is. I've heard my RFE is the most complicated but my fiancé and I worked extremely hard to get the evidence needed to prove our case. Please keep in touch and let us know when you receive your next notification!

I agree I think it will definitely depend on what the RFE is and how complex the issue is. I took a peek at your time-line and we sent the RFE on the same exact day so I'll keep you informed if I hear any updates on my end. Long distance relationships are no joke. We are hoping to have some definitive answer this year. We seriously considered canceling the k1 and starting over with the cr1, but seeing how close we are to some sort of answer, we'll try and wait. It's tough though

Ladies and gents, I forgot to tell you that a couple of weeks ago on this website I noticed an area on the right column that said "K1 Visa Approvals". Listed on the column was a user that had their K1 Visa approved in DR on 2/11/21! This is huge and this is just proof that the Embassy in DR is working behind the scenes and are still conducting interviews or started to again and we have hope! I feel like things are just going to move very slow this year but this was the confirmation my fiance and I were looking for and I know this will good news for my fellow DR K1 visa people. Granted, this person had first received their NOA1 back in October of 2019. The process is going to take some time and it looked like for this specific person, the process took a total of 1 year and 4 months start to finish. We may be looking at atheist that type of time-line or possibly longer. As long as the Embassies open and are back up and running by the beginning of April, we should be in a good place to have our Embassy appointments sometime this year🙏🏻

Hang in there, it is so hard! I appreciate you keeping me/us updated on your case, this is important and keeps us hanging on to some sort of hope! I just took a trip to DR last month to see my fiancé and it was bitter sweet😢 we've been doing this for 2 years, almost 3 and we're ready to start our family! If only the government can get their act together! It's crazy how there is no empathy and no one cares about our suffering and longing to be with our significant others. I just posted an update on information I was able to gather from another user, read it and let me know your thoughts.

They are currently rescheduling people who have had canceled appointments from before the pandemic and I've even heard of some people who have NOT had a prior canceled appointment who have also gotten interviews. Albeit at a slow pace but they are definitely working.  Seems to be the luck of the draw who gets picked. I'm part of two WhatsApp groups(1 Spanish 1 English) and since I've joined the Spanish group theres been about 6 interviews, (all approved! )In  Santo Domingo. In the English group,  theres been a few expedite interviews scheduled also approved! Off the top of my head currently i think the Spanish group has 1 upcoming interview on Tuesday of next week. The English group had an approval yesterday i believe and she's coming home with her man!

Oh this is wonderful news! Thanks for sharing! It's so ironic you mentioned these WhatsApp groups because I was going to put feelers out there about if these groups even exist. How can I get involved in these groups. I don't mind giving you my number if there's any possibility of joining? Would love to know! Thanks so much jojo!

Unfortunately the only way you will get an interview is through expedite or whenever the embassy opens up again. Hopefully once the vaccinations are distributed everywhere then the embassy will open again.

Hello Everyone,

I would love to join this support group. I filed my I-129f back in 09/2019 and had my interview for 05/11/20 but, it was cancelled due to Covid. Looks like things are finally moving, and the embassy has resumed limited visa operations. Apparently they’re processing interviews for those that had interviews scheduled between 03/16/20-04/30/20. Here’s the full update from the embassy’s website:

Updated: February 25, 2021

The U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo is providing limited processing of routine student and work visa appointments, as local conditions allow.  Routine tourist visa appointments remain suspended at this time, and only cases that meet the requirements for emergency processing or are eligible for interview waiver are being scheduled.

For Immigrant Visa applicants: The Immigrant Visa Unit has resumed limited immigrant visa operations.  While the appointment availability remains restricted by public health conditions, the Immigrant Visa Unit is currently scheduling visa appointments on a very limited basis in the following categories:

  • Adoptions: appointments for adopted children of U.S. Citizens
  • Spouses, children and parents of U.S. Citizens and LPRs
  • Fiancées of U.S. Citizens
  • Applicants whose immigrant visa interviews were scheduled between March 16, 2020 and April 30, 2020, and subsequently canceled due to the closure of routine visa services on March 16, 2020

Ladies & Gents if we have any....JojoandTomas has been so kind to set up a WhatsApp group for all of us to use and stay in close contact about our case statuses and also current news about the K1 Visa. If anyone is interested in the group and your spouses also(my fiancé is joining as well), let's use this as an informative platform to connect and keep everyone up to date about everything going on in their cases so we can stay positive, and engaged while we all go through this difficult process through these trying Covid times. JojoandTomas and I would be more than happy to exchange phone numbers with you and send you an invite to the WhatsApp K1 Visa support group, just send either one of us a private message!

We look forward to connecting with you all!

🙏🏻
