Hello everyone! 
during an argument/ bad time I stupidly withdrew my k-1 application. previous post will explain it all so I will not repeat. 
I ended up pregnant during my last visit and they were not conducting marriages during the time I was there. However, the plan is once it’s re opened we will just get married there. Backstory done now to my questions 

1.is spousal better than a re do of a k-1 due to the withdrawal? Since there is a child involved now.

2.is it possible for him to get a tourism visa to be at the birth?

Worldwide, B-2 visa appointments are not currently a priority for DOS. Also without a National Interest Exemption, odds are that DOS would use the unlawful "No Visa Policy" to not schedule the visa interview. South Africa was added by Biden's COVID proclamation.

For most people a Spousal Visa is the better bet.

 

I do not think they are processing tourist visa's but he certainly can apply when they are.

1. The visa type will be your choice. There are pros and cons of both. Do the one that suits your circumstances best. 
 

2. He can certainly apply for a tourist visa, assuming the embassy starts processing tourist visas again in time for the birth. There is no guarantee he will be approved. But he absolutely can try.

I guess I am over researching / thinking does being married help or look worse on a tourism visa application? 
mind you he has never traveled outside his country.

His chances are already reduced by the fact that he wants to travel here to see his USC child being born. Being married to or engaged to you isn’t likely to make much difference.
