The vast majority of us legal gun owners are not opposed to background checks at all and it has always been the case as well.

The requirement for background check to buy ammo is a new thing by the Left in regards to making it harder to buy ammo. They can't legitimately go after guns so they will go after your ability to purchase ammo. See it is constitutional because you have your firearm but no ammo to shoot it

one of the first things my pappy showed me in his workshop was how he made his own ammo.

its also a great skill to have regardless

OK, so I may not be towing the party line, but I am not opposed to valid background checks for gun purchases.  I've always had to do that.  Not so happy that the FBI would be able to take up to 10 days to complete them.  Here in FL I am exempt for any waiting period with my CC permit.

Waiting to see what truly damaging legislation will be coming.  Waiting periods and background checks for ammo?  End of online ammo sales?  Just can't imagine a true take away of firearms.  Scares me that some ill informed politicians try to classify any semi automatic weapon as an assault weapon.

We have the background checks here too. We have some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country. I’m not opposed to the mandatory background checks, but I know that there is no such thing as compromise with the anti gun mindset. They are never satisfied with any concessions made and always want more. They have one goal in mind, an unarmed citizenship. And they take it piece by piece. Ammo restrictions are surely on the horizon. And most likely ammo will be heavily taxed.

Ten days for a background check that typically takes 2 minutes? Another way to tighten the noose on legal gun ownership. And this is just the begin of what is coming. There is “assault weapon” legislation in the works too. Meanwhile, in Chicago 15 people were shot this Wednesday, 4 fatally. Funny how that is always ignored by politicians, BLM and Antifa and mainstream media. Dozens are shot in Chicago every week. I wonder how many of the gunmen passed background checks and waited 10 days for their approval?

Is there anything out there to stock up on? Shelves were pretty bare last time I looked.

Shelves have been bare here for almost a year. And we still have the AWB in place here, so pre 94 stuff brings crazy prices. A pre ban Colt lower will bring $2000 as soon as it goes up for sale.

On the Second Amendment and exactly what it means. And what is allowed to be owned by the citizenship. Of course none of this would apply to criminals as they do whatever they want. Do we have the right to keep and bear arms? If so, exactly what. Everything gets thrown back to the states and gun laws vary widely across the states.

They will never get the millions of AR’s out of circulation. More guns were sold in January this year than any year for which statistics have been kept. About 4 million sold in January. Since Covid, over 20 million sold along with hundreds of millions of rounds of ammunition. A lot of that had to do with social unrest and rioting, and Biden’s promise of bans if he was elected. Democratic Presidents are great gun salesman. Talk about restrictions and people flood the firearms shops and hoard ammunition in large quantities. It happened with Obama and it happened with the just the possibility that Biden might get elected.

So Obama and Bidens actions are the root cause of this violence? Probably not.

I haven't seen anyone explain what motivated the purchase for Atlanta or Boulder which is the root cause that needs to be addressed.

I just wish the gun lobby would show as much respect for the victims mass shootings as they do for their desire to empty a magazine at the range.

Where did I state that Obama’s and Biden’s actions are the cause of the violence? I’ve never heard anyone say they were glad that people were killed.

What motivated the purchase specifically to carry out the shootings does needs to be addressed. The problem is the person who did the shooting.

You didn't, but you connected their words and actions to an increase in gun sales which, if we believe the gun lobby, is not a driver of gun violence. Gun ownership <> gun violence (as per the gun lobby).

I am glad we agree on addressing the root cause, I am not sure "the person" is the root cause, unless you have some insight into how we can identify and isolate who needs to be focused on. All people are not the cause, but certain people in certain situations are.

If the person is not the root cause what is?
